Once you attack Brigands do they stay hostile forever?

I tried to help out some brigands fighting bandits but shot and killed a brigand and now all the brigands are hostile. do they stay hostile forever?

No you in rebellion while you fight them once you finish them off and build the bell tower you can go back into towns and only the ones sent to reclaim towns its what 2-3 days it spawns 1 party, those ones will be hostile. But you can go back into towns once rebelion is done. Not sure how long if you fail it stays though I always save scummed so I lose I can reload and either try again or increase odds for myself lol

Like took me two tries first time I took one first one I was gravely underprepared lol

I wasnt in a rebellion. like 12 bandits just charged into town and the brigands were getting their arses handed to them so I started sniping. took 4 bandits down, brigands took 3 down then I accidently killed a brigand and has to kite circle the last bandits to death then ran as the last brigand was hostile. so I didnt want to sazve if they were all KOS me.

Yeah do not touch them if you do it kind messes it all up. I just avoid all combat if I might hit a brigand in town. But I am use to like Skryim and others you kill a town gaurd you got reload to your last autosave lol. I am not sure how you appease them if you killed one in this current state..

It takes about 3 ingame days until they chill down and get into a neutral stance with you again.
