Axe Combat?
So under the text for axe, it says it can be used for combat. But I'm swinging at the wild dogs/wolves and it's not doing anything. I've bought a bow to try ranged, but it won't let me put my arrows in the quiver spot....going to investigate on perhaps how to build a quiver? In the mean time, is my axe bugged or can it not actually be used for combat?

Edit: Arrows do not need to be in quiver spot to be used apparently. Cool. NOW TO THE MURDER OF THINGS! heh

Also, so far, loving the game.

Yeah you can hit them when they turn sideways to you but not when facing you. Sometimes if you swing early it will hit it head on as its charging into you but the timing is off.

Jesus christ I'm uninstalling this pos demo. Why was this in next fest. There's a quest to go to a cart and there's bandits at the cart. I can't interact with the cart anymore and I died to the bandits because there's no melee combat without weapons, but I have NO WEAPONS

Can't you just craft an axe with stones and wood?

Those bandits also eventually leave the area, but yeah its kinda poorly designed as a very early quest considering one fo them is armed with a bow and the bandits autoaim is brutal.

so.. there's a raid incoming. everyone died. spawn. no wep. can't even cheese it with punch/spawn cycle

That's a lot. The raids suck. There isn't much you can do. The first couple are two guys. Then 3 guys with an archer.

The melee combat is hard to get right, there is a lot of timing and bad hit boxes involved. It can be done, but I just always use the bow.
The arrows have to be in your inventory until you can craft a quiver, then once the quiver is equipped it will add an ammo slot for the arrows to drop into.

combat just suxs in this game, never had so one sided fights in a game, where i am dying all the time wft lol :/
The combat is janky as he ll......christ I had a reinforced club trying to bash two bandits and I kept swishing like a woman....the guy proceeded to smack my head a few times and had to keep running healing and returning.....was annoying as all....but you have to time the hit and the angle of the swing as there seems to be a weird way to hit things

How are you supposed to block/parry? I was doing sort of ok against those two guys (my retarded workers refused to help and the raid came before i could sort out their jobs), but then I got raaaaeped.

Had an axe.

This game uses a mount and blade type combat. its a mouse directional thing so if you want to swing down hard you hold the attack (left) mouse button and pull ur mouse up and let go of attack button to swing, if you want to swing it from side to side you move your mouse from left or right. same with block with the left mouse block up mouse up block side to side mouse side to side. It does take a bit of getting used to. For attacking the dogs I had to look down at the ground more to hit them. killing them at long range with the bow is much easier, for the wolves!

I said in another post in this thread that this game uses a mount and blade type combat, meaning that it is a directional mouse movement. "copied from other post"... so if you want to swing down hard you hold the attack (left) mouse button and pull ur mouse up and let go of attack button to swing, if you want to swing it from side to side you move your mouse from left or right.

For attacking the dogs I had to look down at the ground more to hit them. killing them at long range with the bow is much easier, for the wolves! ** you can practice it on a scare crow in the farm field if so inclined when you have the ax or bow, in hand.**
You can also recover your arrows if they hit an object or the ground, but not if they hit an animal or bandit.

If you set your villagers to Soldier and make sure they have an ax in hand they will follow you and attack the bandits when they agro on you when ur close enough. They have to have a weapon in their inventory to do that. you can give them by getting close to them and hitting F button to access their inventory. You CAN NOT access inventory from the Tab key. but you can set them from worker to soldier from the tab key.

I DO NOT suggest you set them to guard at this particular time, it doesn't work very good at this time. I found my villager half way to another town when i did that.

COMBAT If you get raided and you are not near your village you will lose some stuff, if you get raided and your are close enough to the village hit tab key and select soldier and they will come next to you and you can direct them with the indicated key binds in the top right of the screen, It takes a bit of getting used to but i have successfully defended my village about 20 times without dieing myself. Your villager can get injured when they get knocked out, they will spawn back at your village, and have a broken bone, they have a 30 percent chance of dieing from their wounds. depending on the wound, It will tell you the type of wound they have, how long the wound takes to heal in the Tab community list. I found that healing my villager right after their respawn helps a bit. I have had villagers knocked out a few times but have never lost them to death. After the combat is over make sure you set your villages back to workers. so they can rest and sleep if need be.

As for the guard I have to play around with that a bit, to figure out if I am doing something wrong or if its just broken at the moment.

Hope that helps a bit

its not a hit box thing, they can block your attacks and as i posted in this thread its a mount and blade combat, please read the previous post.
