https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Dodging#Bugs DFU fixes Dodge btw.
Another major challenge is side quests, because you may encounter enemies which are much stronger than your character. On the other hand, you have to do them, because of the level thresholds of the main quest.
Then there is the DFU UI. Controlling your character is much easier than in DF, and you can fight by mouse-click only, if you want (in DF you have to right-click and swing).
And, of course, there are many many ways to make your life easier by using certain DFU mods. Lastly, using guides, walkthroughs, maps and other help makes the game much easier, too.
I can assure you that playing classic DF (or even unmodded DFU with default configuration) without additional documentation (except the official manual) is not "super easy".
Now try make custom class thats not OP or piick one of the premade classes
I put PER at 30 to start and didn't take etiquette or streetwise, so everyone ended up hating me. I think maybe also my race had something to do with it because everyone kept referring to me as a dirty redguard or similar types of racially based insults.
So I re-rolled my character much the same, but chose Nord and started with 65 PER and etiquette and streetwise skills as well.
It has been working a lot better to get work/quests and directions to places.
In your first post you said the game "seems super easy", now you say the new game with a different character "has been working a lot better to get work/quests and directions to places". Was your first game not so "super easy" after all?
Please try to be clearer and more consistent when describing your issues.
Please give an example of a custom class which admits "breezing through all the dungeons" (without additional "help").
It was super easy in the sense that I was killing everything easily, getting tons of loot, money, gear, leveling up fairly quickly, etc.
Where it fell apart was when I started to try to pursue the MSQ - which basically just involves a lot of talking to people to get information (again, if not using online guides). With my original character - no one would tell me anything. Everyone hated my guts lol. So I couldn't figure anything out related to the MSQ. Even finding directions to someone's house for a side quest was a chore because I would have to check every single house in a city one at a time because no one would tell me ANYTHING.
Thanks for your clarification. Would it be possible to describe how you defined your custom class?
The reason is that I have experimented with custom classes myself a lot over all the years, but never managed to get a character fitting your description (with respect to fighting),
I can complete the starter dungon easily with more or less every character, due to my experience, but most other dungeons are tough for my characters, especially the side quest dungeons with their unpredictable enemies (the main quest ones are hand-designed and often more predictable).
On the other hand, there are ways to make fighting easier, especially in DFU ...
If I may ask, what level is your character?

my original redguard warrior character was level 4 before I re-rolled as nord, I think
you can join Julianos and access magic items at a pretty low rank to cast free action, heal, cure poison, levitate, stamina
the free action, cure poison and stamina will be mandatory
Yeah you min-maxed the absolute ♥♥♥♥ out of that character, no wonder it's OP early on.
I'm more curious how it goes without any Mark & Recall or Levitate, honestly.
