The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall

The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall

An odd question...
So this may seem like a really stupid question but...
What are soul gems used for in Daggerfall?

I mean enchantment don't need/use them. You can't sell them anywhere. But you can buy them from the mages guild and some temples at a high(er) rank. But they seemingly don't do, or are used for anything; At least not as far as I have seen so far.

And on top of all that; I can't find any information on them other than 'They exist in game'.

So anyone that can answer that question is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

They are worthless to me. Not different at all really. But you are just trolling at this point, in an attempt to 'not be wrong'.

Ingredients, yes. Recipes, no. But again, trolling to try and 'not be wrong'. Because I never said anything about ingredients. You brought them up.

Oh I know what it means. But you just wanna troll, as usual. And at this point, your getting reported for fighting, because that's all you have done here.

GOOD DAY SIR!

You're the one moving the goal posts to not be wrong, I dunno what to tell you champ. It's fine if you don't like them, but that doesn't mean they are blanket worthless. Keep backpedaling about how "you can't even buy them" though.

You're spreading misinformation because you had a bad take, and are threatening moderator action because you can't handle that bad take being called out with proper information.

You've seen spell scrolls in game? I've not seen a single one yet. Leading me to believe that they don't exist.
Thanks for your comments - and for the corrections in particular. I haven't played Daggerfall for some time and assumed scrolls would exist in all TES games. Looks like this is not true. I hadn't noticed this (missing) feature in all the years I played Daggerfall.

How would you sell spells? Good question. Not that I had given it much thought yesterday. Pass on a formula, teach the method, ... In other words: Sell information. Sounds modern, doesn't it?

Using economic language: Value has two faces: Value associated with using something and value associated with trading something. The two are loosely connected, but shouldn't be viewed as synonyms or confused. And nothing is worthless per se. If at all, it's worthless in a specific context or for a specific person or purpose.

And that's what I keep saying. That potions are worthless to ME. But he can't seem to grasp that concept, and even goes to far as to falsely accuse me of spreading misinformation because I say that. I swear I'm 2 seconds away from cursing the dude out if the Steam mods don't do something about his rampant trolling, and false allegations.

As I quoted before:
"Everything is worth what it's purchaser with pay for it." ~ Publilius Syrus
If you don't use them yourself; They are worthless, because you can't sell them.

Well, you gotta remember this game is how many years old now? More than 30? About that? It's the same reason soul gems are a bare bones mechanic at this point in the series; And you can't sell potions, soul gems, or potion recipes. I mean the music itself reminds me of the Ever Quest music, probably done by the same dude, or is a few of the same tracks.

I mean the whole reason I like this one more than Skyrim now, is simply because it reminds me of Ever Quest. And I played that way way back in the pre-SoL (Pre-Shadows of Luclin) days. Not to mention the magic isn't nerfed to ♥♥♥♥.

You're a funny little man. Please, show me where I said that they aren't worthless to you. I even said there is a difference between worthless to you and blanket worthless, because you claimed the latter. Then you moved the goalposts, just like when you claimed that soul gems and potions having a gold cost was pointless because you can't sell them; the point of the gold cost is because you can buy them. That doesn't invalidate them having a listed cost in the game files just because you'll never buy, or use, them.

That's the misinformation, by the way. That you are pushing that these things are worthless, when you don't see how they can be used (or choose not to use them). Not everything is just made as vendor trash.
