The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall

The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall

That "Medora's Freedom" quest is crazy
Just finished it. I've done a lot of mages guild quests etc. and a lot of the main questline stuff but this one beats the cake. I only looked up the main quests order on EUSP but I find my way in the dungeons etc. myself. This one though is insane. Normally secrets (e.g. secret doors) show up on the 3d overview map. Not in this case. You're just supposed to click every torch I guess. Then I had a nice recall set to return to Medora. But when I smuckly recall back to Medora I realize that's useless because you can't open those walls...so I had to track out of Shedungent and then back through Direnni tower (fighting same vampires and ancient lich again)...♥♥♥♥ me!

At the time nerds played computer games and saw no problem :D
I bought it on a whim, I think it was 1996, I was in my twenties then and I loved the big world but couldn't get anywhere with the dungeons or the main questline. I figured they where bugged and lost interest. Now nearly 30 years later I see people have actually done the whole questline so I know I'm not just gonna search a dungeon for ever for a thing that isn't there because it's bugged. So I've committed to finishing Daggerfall this time. But boi, as above, it's still pretty crazy even with the knowledge that it can indeed be finished.

I can't believe anybody actually finished this for real without prior knowledge that it was possible. The first person must have looked in the game files or something....Bethesda wasn't some kinda big name back then either...and the game (where I lived, had no press coverage) I just kinda stumbled onto it in a shop. I think my first quest was a mages guild quest to find some fairy hair or whatever in a huge dungeon and I could never find it. The way the main quest works is craxy too: There was no way to know back then that you simply had to wait until you where level 3 to receive some letter or whatever. You would go to castle Daggerfall click on all the royals and nothing would come of it.

Is that where you have to summon a daedra on a specific day?
ok...I just had to go through Direnni tower again and in 21 days will have to go back through it again...so for the main quest-line I have to go through Direnni tower 4 times if I'm counting correctly (and you can't use recall there because of the opening wall situation)...sjeeeez

Maybe it is the mods I am using but I leave a recall at Medora every time...

Also if you get tired of too much challenge there are mods and console commands that make the game (too) easier.
It's not a challenge thing that, going through the same dungeon 4 times is just lame.
Anyway, how do you get out of Direnni tower after you recall to Medora?

a console command called tele2exit get me to the exit

(a mod for language skills and another for training allows me to recruit that lich as a follower, and I have had that lich kill my follower lich but I just recruited him after)

There is another console command called tele2qmarker that makes many quests a breeze you just go into the dungeon and type that in and it goes right to the spot, on top of the item or near any enemy you are looking for.

There are other commands for getting any armor or weapon set, get all of the artifacts, do enchanting and spell making without joining the mages guild. Some console commands, such as fastflying, take a mod for useful console commands

jah, maybe I should do the same. I have this thing where I have to do it "properly" or the world will end.

haha same thing. Why even play in the first place if you going to cheat :)

Those dungeons get rather boring too much hallway maze. I prefer to tough it out and when I get bored I use commands. I don't get the artifacts and I start out with a lesser set of gear to enchant such as dwarven or mithril and work my way up to daedric.

I like to play games organically as well but I played to the point of wanting to quit and then started using commands and got a lot more out of the game.

Fastflying is one of the best commands out there and is a great way to tour Daggerfall from the sky at a fast speed.

I can get a billion gold off a command but I prefer to loot bodies because that is one of the joys. Wilderness npc mod and enemy infighting makes a lot of cool battle npc scenes to watch, loot, and up skills on.

When one is doing a lot of 'frivolous' stuff to try out different char styles it is easier to get gear off of commands then tough it out for each one. There is also 'the deal' you can make with yourself, get 2 pieces of a set from loot and then get the rest off a command.

It's wonderful to see nearly 30 years later what people have done with it (daggerfall unity etc.)
Dream mod is very impressive, I actually had to save up and get double the ram and a graphics card to play it right.
