Agility, among other factors, modifies hit chance (modifier = (attacker's Agility - target's Agility) / 10))
Expertise In missile
increases accuracy (+level%) and damage (+level/3 pts) with a certain weapon.
For example : Rat in Daggerfall has 80 agility. So if your Archery skill is lower then 60 dont expect to hit often.

Agility doesn't matter. Weapon material has a huge effect on chance to hit.

There are a lot of invisible barriers in dungeons that block arrows. Like if an enemy is in a doorway and you cant hit him pull him down the hall a bit and you'll be able to hit him.

This.
The material of your bow and your archery skill is what really matters. Other than that, you just need to get a feel for shooting.

I assume you are using classic Daggerfall. If you are using Daggerfall Unity, you need the Better Archery mod as there is a bug with the arrow hitbox at the moment that will get fixed in the next update.

I can't find Better Archery mod on Nexus or DW. I have the same problem with archery, I gave up on bows and went for spells but I still collect bows in high hopes.

i am using unity mod and heard about the hitbox problem

I think this is the mod they're talking about.

I've never bothered much with bow and arrowing in Daggerfall since it's always felt pretty unreliable. It takes a lot of work to build up your skill to the point that you can properly rely on it as your main combat skill. My only real advice is to also have a melee skill at the ready. :nhgknife:

that either really rocks or it's uncanny's always hit mod kicking in but it solves the problem either way
