As it has been said, do not use the Steam version. Either for Daggerfall Unity or to play the original game.

Yeah true, but when you start having to download external files and you intend to use it with an external software you might as well just drop the steam version completely.
I've also tried installing DaggerfallSetup-2.17.0 and then copying the files over, the game starts but then there is just a black screen.
Thank you. I had the original Daggerfall however having to patch through DOSBox wouldn't have occurred to me.
