Art Style Gripe
Can someone explain to me why there is pixelation in this game at all? The pixels are so small, and they don't scale properly to my 1080p monitor so they look very messy, and not to mention... pixel art with post processing effects over them? The vast majority of the art in the game is BEAUTIFUL smooth seemingly hand drawn art. It's a beauty to look at, and then you have these UGLY unscaled pixels JUST for the button prompts, health and the characters?? Why?? Please just make hand drawn art for these elements!

I have a 1440p monitor and to me, the graphics actually look quite bad.

The pixels are small, but also unevenly scaled, so while you're moving it all just mushes and jumbles around and the graphics become really... "wobbly"? It's not good. At all.

Everything else is fine. It's just the actual world that looks this way, as if someone forgot the 720p art that cleanly scales to 1440p.

stop being picky please

I dont think its picky to point out aspects which differ so utterly drastically from the majority of the game's art style, when these things are front and center in the game. They don't look good either. They look straight out of Maplestory or something.

game looks gorgeous actually, and your opinion is bad

What you fail to understand is that we have the same opinion. In fact I said this much in the first post. My problem is the ugly sprites that don't fit in with the rest of the game's art style at all. Its simply silly to go through all the effort of making beautiful hand drawn art, and right at the finish line- making *some* elements of the hud, and perhaps the most important sprite, the one youll be seeing the majority of the game; the in-game character sprites- with crappy pixel art.

To each their own, I think it's a great art direction choice!

Thank you for being reasonable Wiegraf.

Yeah, I have to agree and I'm generally a staunch defender of pixel art. It's weird that these few elements are pixel art. It clashes in a strange way with the art direction chosen for the rest of the game and scales very badly on my monitor. It's almost like they intended of doing a sort of HD2D thing like with Octopath Traveler and then backed out partway through. Don't get me wrong, it's not the end of the world, just a strange choice.

I think the approach is really cool, but I understand the initial discomfort.
I'd actually like even more filters on top, like the vintage-video ones from the intro.

Perhaps this is something that could use an extra option or two for personal taste, even though I would ultimately support the artistic intent behind it.

Then they need to offer an integer based scaling option because it's super distorted looking on my screen.

I think it looks great. Looks like a Sega Saturn game. I'm not too fond of the character portraits though.

The character portraits are the part that looks worst for me.
