Game's Acting Kinda' Weird in Fullscreen
I've been playing this game for a little bit, and I've started to notice some issues with full-screen mode. For context, I've modified the arena.cfg file, and the game's rendering with DDraw, CPU cycles are set to max, and both resolutions (full-screen and windowed) are set to 640x480. I am on integrated Intel graphics. In full-screen the game slows down a lot (specifically noticeable when menus fade in and out), while it works fine windowed. I know the CPU cycles setting has an effect on the game, but it should be the opposite, right? It should be running too fast. And it is. In windowed mode. Is full-screen doing something weird here? Is it DOSBox? Or is it Windows murdering everything I hold dear once again? Any help is appreciated.

Max cycles may slow down. Try cycles=50000 (variants are cycles=max limit 50000 or cycles=fixed 50000). And I think you could set resolution to your desktop resolution, if you want (I didn't notice a performance degradation at 1920x1080 - have no experience with higher resolutions). Non-4:3 resolutions will look a little stretched, alternative is the black side-bars, it's your choice. Integrated graphics should be fine.

Thank you, this helps a lot.

You're welcome. Unless you've done it already, you may also experiment with the scaler parameter. Values like hq2x, hq3x, 2xsai, super2xsai, scan2x, or scan3x may improve the visual presentation somewhat (or not :-)).
