Wildfrost
I don't get why people complain about difficulty
This post is not meant to be a "Git gud" post whatsoever, like at all.

But I genuinely don't get why people think the game is too hard? I could argue that some elements of the game are imbalanced (a few examples include mushroom to feel way stronger than overburn and bombs, teeth, smackback and aimless can feel extremely unfair especially on that bloody cat boss fight, I don't think it's fair to have ink only accessible to Gnomes baseline, I get that the base tribe can survive just by having a ton of hp but the summoners really can't do anything against a lot of mechanics and you can lose a run on a stupid aimless that nuke your key unit(s) more often than not).

Anyway back on topic: I think people just need to try to understand how the game actually works and stop trying to force strategies from other games into this game. You are meant to move your units on almost every single turn, putting your companions back in your deck very regularly to heal them and cleanse their negative effects and so on. Sure if you play this like Hearthstone and "just" play one card per turn you will be bodied like there's no tomorrow and the game will feel too hard.

But it's kind of like saying Mario Kart is too hard when you play without items. You are meant to use the tools the game is giving to you (and introducing them clearly in the tutorial by the way, it's not like any of this is hidden or anything).

Again I think there's some imbalance in the game and I'd rather people point that out (the "hard setting" is too random and half fo the time makes the game easier for you and suddenly nuke your run because a stupid pushroom is way behind and has 8 shield and will murder your entire team very quickly).

Also I simply don't get why difficulty should be a negative in the first place? It took me a good 7-8 hours of game time to finally win my first run and I've won about 4 other since (one including on a new savefile on Switch on the second run so it's not even that you need to unlock a lot of things to win necessarily, even though that does help).

Just think about all the game mechanics and use them. If you feel some things are way too weak or too strong by all mean give constructive criticism to the devs but review bombing the game because you can't be bothered thinking in a strategy game is just ridiculous at this point. There are way way way harder games out there. Sure Wildfrost isn't far from easy but it's not crazy hardcore or crazy unfair either, far from it. (And I consider myself pretty average at card games in the first place, I always go for the troll strategy instead of trying to min-max).

"It's the only Rogue like game I know off the top of my head you can DIE fight two. Fun."

I respect you for not having fun this way.

Personally however I enjoy some titles that have adopted the philosophy of fewer but more taxing fights where my decisions matter.
In StS and many other games you basically cannot die in the first 2/3 stages (with a little bit of experience) and it just serves to let you build/earn your loadout ... which I perceive as tedium nowadays and frankly: a waste of my time.

But ... to each his/her own ;)

The problem is the faster/quick pace of a game makes it so that mistakes rapidly compound into unwinnable runs, but you won't know that for another fight or two.

As an example; I had a run where I was doing well. I had lot of activated abilities, it was going good, I was stacking teeth, smack back, and overburn. It was going well...., oh wait. It's Ink squad. I guess I just die now because they turn off all my abilities that I was using to win. Gosh I didn't know making that build was going to be a mistake and why make that build ever again if it just dies that easily to Ink effects, just scrap that entire idea now.

And stuff like that just keeps happening. Oh you took a leader with low HP, WOW too bad we got teeth/smackback/poison on this run, why aren't you just a better player, look all the Streamers are making this game look easy, why can't you instantly solve the game, on no bells too, god it sucks to suck.

I don't like when a game feels so tuned it feels like it needs either a lot of luck, or a near perfect run. Wildfrost fits into that area for me most the time. And it's only going to get worse to see the 'true boss' which I'm getting tired of seeing games do. Do the game again, BUT HARDER now. I'm struggling to beat you normally with what seems a rigged deck and now you want me to stack it harder against myself?

No thank you. And that's not getting into the RNG of the game.

FYI; the only run I've won as of late...., was a Nova cheese build. And I don't expect myself to luck into that often.

To each there own as you said. I'm just sitting here and going "I don't get it". I don't hate the game; I'm more disappointed I just don't click with it compared to other games like this(Though it's NOT the only one I own I feel this way about).

Why people assume they supposed to Instantly solve the game? If you instantly solve the game there is no longer a game to play. The process of try and error is the fun part of gameplay and what makes it even a game.

There is indeed quite a learning curve to this game, but it's mostly fair in its approach. I say mostly because teeth is busted (why aren't you always solo on your lane Marrow?). I don't believe you're meant to be as fast as StS in your plays and overcoming the challenge is really nice. Still took me quite a few losses before things clicked. It really depends on how you approach your games and what you get out from your failures.
So how are you supposed to deal with overpowered lineup you created to be your new boss?

Ink?
