Wildfrost Modding/Steam Workshop Compability ( A Discussion)
Good game, besides the balancing and some ironing out with bugs, I think the mix reviews will skyrocket to positive real soon.

But I just can't get the feeling that the game lacks content.

3 tribes, lots of enemies and bosses to beat and a challenge based progression. It's fun to unlock, defeat and complete them but after about several runs later it feels samey all the time.

What if you could add modded cards in here?

Now that could cause problems by itself. from unbalance game-play to game breaking errors
there are tons of positives that outweighs them when this game supports mods:

1# More content without needing to make more personally, as there are only so much card and enemy types you could come up with that are interesting and fair. Like TF2, I could see some of the modded cards added in the game, but there are also chance to see the new type of enemies and bosses, tribes, challenges and even QOL stuff developers couldn't see before.

My idea for some mods I'd like to see:
* A Tribe that could control, tame and use enemies as allies
* A tribe based on Spice or Poison
* Enemies who are exiled tribe members, maybe even cults or some savage hostile tribes, having similar stat and abilities as well as cards as yours and other tribes you play

These are only a handful of the idea I come up with, feel free to add more.

2# Personal balancing suited for ones taste. After reading the discussion, there's a lot of people with differing ideas on what they considered balance. Realistically you can't please everyone, so let mods do it. There are plenty of QOL and balancing mods in various games that suits many people for their runs. With these you don't have to worry about choosing whether to nerfed or buffed a card and get comments about it, mods will help them suit them.

3# Interesting modding showcases for marketing reason or promoting creators, We like to see people being creative right? The art style for the cards in game is already a proof of that. Why not showcase them? It would grab attention for many players, making it a suitable marketing strategy.

4# From overhauls, expansions, etc. Many mods from different games have overhauled or expanded upon their vanilla games. These can give developers idea on what their player based are interested with these mods and they could create updates around them. For example, in Rimworld for example (Which is also made in Unity like Wildfrost), they began expanding their narrative, character creation and content updates by creating Ideology and Biotech DLC.

The game had DLCs that modders could add, expand and/or change. With that developers can see what made these mods so favorable and made DLCs to add and expand to their core mechanic. Creating a cycle for modders and developers to work together in harmonizing the game.

Garry's Mod, TF2, Darkest Dungeon, Minecraft and Fallout 3 & 4. These games have robust modding capability too, some of those mods gets added to the game and some even kept the player base breathing and running long lasting.

In conclusion, Wildfrost has the potential to be modded. Since it's made in Unity like Rimworld and it's positive could increase the review scores and made the game everlasting.

Modding capabilities are only really worthwhile if you have a very large userbase with a lot of creative people in it, otherwise it's a lot of time spent for a tool that very, very, very few people will ever use. For every game with mod support and a lot of success, there's dozens upon dozens of ones who have it and had absolutely nothing worthwhile come of it.

I will also note we already have a tribe based on Spice and Poison- it's the starter tribe, who have the overwhelming majority of their cards interact with those two mechanics.

I'd love to see what people made. I like the tribe idea you had with the capturing. :> (With mod support you know it would only be a matter of time before people make a pokemon tribe)

Right? This game is fun, but in a year the content will be dry, that's why they need either regular updates or modding support to keep it lasting
