What is the point of using challenge bells?

Hello, i have beaten this already-hard game for the first time, which made my final boss even harder by ascending my cards. This also unlocked challenge bells for me which make the game even harder. What is the point of using them? Some people refer to them that they give "more rewards", what rewards do they give? There is no description ingame ever stating that challenge bells or bell strength give more of any rewards, except unlocking higher bell strength.

If you get a victory with the maximum amount of points from storm bells, your maximum goes up by a point, up to 10. If you then play the game at 10 points, a few new things happen, which I'll spoiler tag just in case.

• Parts of the lumin vase will spawn, which is a special card
