problem with my defence losing most games

hi guys
so ive played fifa 23 for over 100 hours now and ive got to say the game play is absolute crap. so i have a 86 rated team all fast pace eng1 players and this is the problems im having
1.defence will not stay back, custom tactics set to defence and as soon as i head towards the opponents end all my defence follow me and sit at the halfway line. once i lose the ball all it takes it a lobbed through ball and im screwed. why aint they staying back to defend. ive tried everything its a joke now.
2. defence again. backing off from the ball not having a ounce of urgency in them and becoming very slow.
3. running with the ball straight line and they stumble or fall over lose the ball wtf is that about.
4. jostle hardly works they just take the ball off me even from behind.
5.through balls are shocking, never goes where i point it, instead passes it to them.
6.selection of players shocking never lets me have the one i need always someone behind mainly in my box.
7.tackling, well lets just says thats shocking too. i tackle they keep the ball tackle again they keep the ball and so on. in the end ill prob just fall over and my defence has ****ed off to costa or summat.
8.scripting........ this is the worst fifa yet for scripting and how anyone can say its not there well, they must be special cus this game will definitely make you take a goal or two. players become so weak and slow its unreal,wont tackle, cant run, get outrun by a bronze player with slow ass pace. goalkeeper making love to the post whilst you slip it in behind.

honesly ive give it a good go and tried every formation tactic going, watched loads of youtube vids tried and failed. i honestly cant see a fix for any of this. if my defence worked and did what i tell them i might have half a chance but right now im peed off with it.
what a WASTE of money............ trash.

Most of the players would even not understand what you are saying because they are not good at defending. Drop back doesn't work good so most good players or pro players they are saying to not use drop back at defending. Even if you do depth 1 and drop back defenders are not staying back. It's about scripting DDA because if good players are defending good and gamers can't score more goals will have not fun and they will not buy coins. Try to play with 5 defenders.

Wel ye its not like fifa 22 , you make a fast team and you make goals like crazy. No this game is more tactical, you really need to defend without fast attacking the attacker as he wil pass you every time, no you need to keep 1 player on teh attacker and defend with a differend player. i use RB on my xbox controller to have a player defend the spot and i take aenother player to take the ball. Attacking is not past pace forwards, you need to pass and pass until you find a way to go to goal. I understand its differend now but you really need to play real football to make a goal. I have no problems winning after 70+- playtime. In a way its so much better then fifa 22

and maybe a tip, play on your flanks ;)

It never ceases to amaze me that no matter what the issue is with a game, some peoples default is to point at the user. It's insane. Usually you see it with bugs and technical issues, where these people refuse to believe that a game can suffer from issues so, in their infantile minds, the problem must be that the person 'complaining' is trying to play on a 30 year old Amstrad 464. See the TW3 forum for great examples of this.

Here the notion is equally as senseless. The passing in this game is atrocious - that is an irrefutable fact. Movement/player selection isn't much better. Yet, some people claim that, contrary to reality, those facts don't actually exist. It's incredible but also rather amusing at times.
