and there is no game here, no review to write.
No game, no review? Then continue waiting forever, that's what the developers want.
You're most likely right in that new people can't see the reviews we post now but I would have to disagree with the reviews getting deleted upon early access/release. I don't deal with production side of steam games but their documentation does have tags for both early access and pre release games. I don't know if this applies to us but it's worth as much of a shot as discussing anywhere else. If this game does release and reviews stay, then good. If the reviews don't stay, then post another.
Either way I've already paid/lost in this battle against the developers, it doesn't matter all much either way to me. Either funding stops and game doesn't get released which frustrates the developers or, the game releases and we get a game (of some varying quality).
You're definitely right in saying that discourse in discussion helps with people unsubbing, I had not thought about that since, I too, was too angry due to being burned by the project and a previous post by someone else (hence the title being a re arrangement of someone else's in satirical fashion). The way I see it is simply having just one vector of pressure on the project isn't going do anything, they are very good on squelching criticism.
They do not have "limited funding"
This Project has at the moment still over 16.000 patreons. So if we assume that people only get the lowest tier (which is not accurate) they make 72.000 USD per month.
If we assume that 80% have Tier 1, 10% have tier 2 and 10% have tier 3. that goes up to 93.000USD
And that does not include any possible higher tier Patreons and they have at least a few of those high tier supporters that give them more than tier 1-3 As far as I know they have 9 tiers!
So we can savely assume that they make more than 100.000 USD per month probaply closer to 130.000 because of the not considered higher Tier patreons.
This is more than enough funding to develop a game this size. Its actualy totaly overfunded
