Why PSP version instead of FES ?
Don't get me wrong though. I'm just glad we can enjoy Persona 3 on PC but I'm just curious.

Apparently the original fes is coded badly, dont remember what it was about. I would have prefered fes version too with added teammate control. I know i will not buy this and will probably just emulate fes version with teammate control cheat if i want to replay this game. Imo the downgraded experience is just not worth it. Inb4 persona fanbase scream "3d world navigation doesnt have any purpose, this visual novel style of point n click is better". Then what is the point of having 3d battle scene, they could cut that part down too and make it vn-like because "its better" .

Probably it's easier to port or they lost the original code.

Dude. Do you have a grudge against Atlus or what ?

why would Atlus not choose version with more meaningful content?

i'd argue that the femc is meaningful content

Both Fes and P3P had "more meaningful content".

As mention above, P3P was likely chosen because PS2 P3 was a spaghetti coded mess.

Nah, that was just a speculation spread as a fact. FES was coded just as "badly" as P4G

It's more likely they went with P3P due to its engine being newer, perhaps facilitating the process significantly (so we don't have another Nocturne level port) or they picked Portable for its QoL features that might make the game more approachable for fans of P4G and P5R (party control, skill cards, p4-like battle and social systems, quick travel, quick cutscene skip, etc) and I guess maybe they wanted to offer FeMC as P3's "gimmick" and selling point to make it more attractive, so it's easier to sell it alongside P4G and P5R

From the store description it seems like they improved P3P version even a bit more?

But yeah, if they added content from FES to create new ultimate edition it would be for the best. I believe movies can be modded back but static exploration backgrounds would probably stay.

Personally they would jusy simply rermaster both games

Because PSP version is superior.

Why do people love FES so much? It's outdated.
DaddyMulk Dec 15, 2022 @ 2:47pm
Cause it's more work and Atlus doesn't care about doing right by Persona 3,

P3P arguably aged worse than FES. Not just visual-wise, but also mechanic wise. Allowing for control of party members, and encouraging it with the MC's single weapon type, winds up trivializing the difficulty since they didn't seem to balance the game around it like 4 did. Doing that also ruins the message of relying on others I feel, but that's a big whatever admittedly. It also removes what makes P3 special. I could go on, but ultimately, these changes make exploring Tartarus a lot less engaging and fun, and makes the game more difficult to finish, especially for newcomers, because the mechanics are shallow.

But, I totally understand why they decided to port this version. It's much more marketable than FES thanks to FEMC. Newcomers will also think they'll enjoy having party control (because coming from P5 and P4, it is an adjustment) even though it'll make the game less enjoyable for them. I just hope we get a FES remaster (not remake) one day.

I read somewhere that they lost the code.

Persona 3 deserved a true definitive version. Instead they picked the laziest option... you can tell just from the screenshots that they didn't even upscale the textures that well. This will be 100% better with mods...
