If anyone needs me, I'll be deciding which version of Persona 3 I want to legally play on my PC: Portable, which is playable in 4K and has mods to add HD visuals and to restore cutscenes, or FES, which is playable in 4K, isn't missing a giant piece of the story, and has mods to let you quick travel and to control your party members individually. But hey, the Denuvo-crusted PC version looks great, too.
What a bunch of clowns lol.
Get your act together, Atlus.
Had to go and have a look and apparently P4G has it also? Wouldn't have known.
This isn't the days of Dishonored 2 or Prey where it directly affects framerate and performance anymore. I literally don't even know its present or there half the time in games these days unless it's pointed out to me.
I guess I'm genuinely a little out of the loop as to what to big deal is
Enough is enough. I'm amazed at how stupid they think their fans are.
Since a video is worth a thousand words, you can see it happening right here: Can't play MH:Rise because of DRM (live in front of 60k viewers)[clips.twitch.tv]
Also if Denuvo servers are down on their side, games without a valid activation token will not start, online or not: https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/a-great-day-for-drm-as-denuvo-lapse-renders-tons-of-games-temporarily-unplayable/
It also continues to inconvenience individual users at random to this day.
People recently reported that it seems to trigger a 24 hour lockout if you play games on desktop computer and switch to the Steam Deck: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1687950/discussions/0/3489752656786031116/?ctp=2#c3489752656790504351
A few developers also came on record citing performance issues for refusing to use it: https://www.pcgamer.com/humankind-drops-denuvo-ahead-of-launch-to-avoid-performance-problems/.
Finally my own issue, beyond the online requirement, is that it's an expensive and complex to implement piece of midlleware, wasting development resources that could have been used to improve the port/game instead.
I can see how this would suck for the Steam Deck and wasn't aware of that.
I'm just all on Desktop on my end and hadn't encountered any of this before.
(I'm still in one of Gaben's hated countries waiting for my turn to be able to order one in the first place
I mean, just watch how well this sells.
Which is stupid as hell, but at least Capcom actually removes Denuvo.
You can see why they put Denuvo in a PSP game from 2009 that you can easily get after a five-second Google search? Because I sure can't. (I'm not advocating piracy by any means, I own my PSP copy, but let's be realistic with ourselves about how Denuvo is totally worthless for a release like this.)
