the S.E.E.S. armbands. .
i'm sorry to invoke godwin's law here. sorry, not sorry.
i couldn't help noticing that the red armbands that the characters in the S.E.E.S. group wear while in Tartarus look an awful lot like the armbands another group wore. (same color, same arm. same spot on the arm.)
another group who were. . .not S.E.E.S. . .

I mean so what??? Even if we were to accept the premise that the arm bands were designed specifically to draw comparison to the Nazis I have no clue what that would even imply.
S.E.E.S. isn't a government institution they're backed by a company. Is Ikutsuki supposed be Hitler? That can't be true. Ikutsuki manages S.E.E.S. but there are still people above him. So this can't be drawing a parallel between S.E.E.S and authoritarian regimes with an evil Dictator at the top. I guess maybe you could see S.E.E.S. as soilders. However this would lead me to ask the question of what the shadows represnt, and the Shadows clearly aren't an allegory for any sort of army. They're mostly all poorly coordinated, and run off of instincts. Who are the Jews supposed to be in this allegory? Where does Strega fit into all of this? What's Nyx supposed to be? What is the Fall representing? Why is everyone's Personas all related to Greek Mythological figures?
I think usually Atlus games are pretty good (understatement) at fitting in Mythology, and real world references into their narratives. So I highly doubt someone gave S.E.E.S. armbands as some sort of edgy reference to WW2 for no reason whatsoever. And I find near impossible to read Persona 3 of all things as some sort of Pro-Nazi narrative even if that were the case.

Tell that to the culture of Japan.

it was a stupid pun, don't be so sensitive. i'm not suggesting there's hidden symbolism or propaganda in the game.
i just saw this as an opportunity to make a silly joke.
hence why i said sorry(for the comparison) but not sorry(for making the joke anyway)

"not SEES", get it?
woosh

the joke is
people who ARE SEES wear armbands similar to people who are NOT SEES.
and there's a reason US had to do what they did to JP but that's history

Oh... "Not S.E.E.S. = Nazis," Okay that's definitely a massive woosh on my part.

These are just generic Japanese school armbands. There's a yellow one during the Emperor social link, and I'm sure everyone's watched Suzumiya Haruhi, she wears a red one just like SEES.

From TV Tropes
"In Japanese society, a method for identifying the leader of a group, be it the leader of an Ouendan or a club or group president, is to look for the red armband on the upper arm. The armband has the name of the group printed on it."
Your negative connotation is purely accidental here.

are those people in SEES? or are they not SEES?
there's only 2 kinds of people really.
people who are Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad and people who are not Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad

Troll thread lock this
Icedfate Mar 9, 2023 @ 7:15am
for clarity, it was a joke thread, not trolling.
i said sorry because i knew folks would get wooshed that the joke would fly right over their heads and get pissed off and that was part of what made it funny.
but i also said not sorry . . because it's funny.
my mistake was mentioning Godwin, because then, i could have pleaded ignorance. you see, i never mentioned that particular other group by name. you all drew conclusions.
besides, according to Mel Brooks, we're "supposed" to make fun of them. that way, we never forget, but never give them power.
there's a reason why The Producers is funny, but American History X is not.

We're locking this thread as it has devolved into non-productive argument. Thanks for your understanding.
