Potential for mods?
This a real question, for any modders in the community. I don't care about all the toxicity and controversy about versions going on in the rest of the forums, I'm just genuinely asking: for those with the technical know-how, is there potential for interesting mods, what would they be, and is anything in the works by anyone?

Thank you all, have a good day.

Denuvo is an obstacle for mods? I thought it just did the internet check, not look for modded game files?

There is Denuvo, so it might require a crack before modding really gets underway. When all versions of P3 can be played with emulators (PS2 or Vita), then I expect that people will likely just mod the old versions over bothering to crack the new version, at least for a little bit.

Short answer: Yea, it'll probably get some mods, but those mods might not happen for a while.

I don't think that's the case. Recent released Atlus titles like P5R, SH2. SMT3, P4G all have Denuvo but mods are working fine and can be installed within the game files. I don't think Denuvo will be the obstacle for the mods to work. It's just something to avoid pirating, not modding.

To answer your question and recently being discussed within the forums, Yes. Mods are currently underway for P3P, Probably starting with HD Re-texture or something. Could be more since the PSP version can do more than that. PC could get some amazing surprises soon!

Here's hoping! I saw that apparently this port suffers from compressed audio as well, hope there's a fix for it official or otherwise soon. Either way, guess I'll buy it now then and wait for any of those "surprises", I just love Persona 3 that much.

Any chance they could mod back the cutscenes? Not being able to watch the iconic persona summons is such a downer.

hoping for audio improvements and also better image quality since a lot of it looks poorly upscaled

Hoping that no mod manager is needed, they don't really work on steam deck.

Nope is isn't the case because Persona 5 Royal has mods for it and it has Denuvo.

I should know that, I have my P4 modded.

I don't see a lot of room for too much in way for mods for P3:P, though. If it were FES, there'd be room to actually mod stuff, but for P3:P, I really only see combat stuff. I don't think there will be too many interesting combat mods, but maybe I just lack imagination. Maybe put the cutscenes from FES in, but that's literally all that I can think of.

Thanks, i thought Denuvo would be a problem for modding like in other games because the files aren't the same and Denuvo would tell to ♥♥♥♥ you.

So there's hope for the FES mod-edition....

The old tools you'd use on the PSP version to unpack archives and the likes are still working with the PC release, so I'd be surprised if we didn't have at least a partial texture mod in a matter of weeks, if not days.

The modding community has been doing stuff like "restoring" romance options to the other gender, or adding the original cutscenes back in, so I'd expect those types of mods before long as well.

oh, dont worry, you gonna see some freaky stuff with this game, its a PSP realease on steam, some crazy sob will transform this mess into FES, time will tell, anything is possible with such a open book game

That isn't possible they can't magically add the 3D aspect of FES to P3P. However they can add back in the cutscenes from the male route though and get it closer to FES.

It doesn't make sense to me to be honest, why would the modders waste their time on this version? FES has a lot of mods and it's the definitive version to play, so if someone's comfortable with modding their games, they can just play FES on an emulator, like right now this instant.

But yeah, somebody will release a better texture pack sometime soon I'm guessing, as that shouldn't be too much work. Maybe they'll just port this one if the file formats are the same:

Indeed. Although this port looks beautiful and buttery smooth, it does suffer from audio problems and low scaling cutscenes for some parts. Probably the modders will fix the game first rather than Atlus but I'm also waiting for what modders has store for us. Can't wait!
