I’m thinking the latter, as they probably meant you don’t need them for anything else but Jin….
You should only recycle the components if you are about to spend the Jin on something… otherwise the double death loss is always possible.
You farm first to buy something you want. If you're close to saving enough, you can make up the difference by recycling components.
My advice: only bother recycling when you're about to go into a rough area or boss fight and you have jin you're worried about losing...like if you've got 2k jin but nothing available to buy for 2k so you recycle enough to get to 4k jin. Buy what you can leaving you with 0 jin (or close to it). Now you can die without worry.
I guess I'm starting over then. Three hours into Standard mode and I lost 5,800 jin after selling everything I had.
Not gonna sell them this time unless I desperately need it. It'll be my emergency stash.
You can farm that near the end of the game in like 10 minutes
Like the last guy said though, It's really not that big a deal. You'll get the jin back, and it's really easy to buy all the items needed quite a bit before the endgame.
