Gamepad Support the hell?

I got Xbox Series and PS5 gamepads. Xbox Series I never managed to make work.
The PS5 gamepad kinda works when connected via cable (btw only when having any steam gamepad support forced off).
That would be okay. However everytime I alt-tab out of the game, and back in, the gamepad stops working until I plug out the cable and then back in. This is so damn annyoing.

I couldn't find any related topics here. Am I really the only person having such issues?

My Xbox Series (with wireless receiver) and PS5 (via USB) both work well in all cases with me. I have Steam input set to disabled for Xbox and disabled unless unsupported for the PS5 controller.

hmm strange, today everything works smooth. Not sure what was wrong yesterday? Maybe the PS VR controllers I had connected before somehow confused the system. Not sure

for me it was because I had a joystick controller also plugged in for flight simulators. Once I unplugged it, alt tabbing didnt mess with my xbox controller registering again.

I never had this issue before and I used a PS5 for the whole game. Is your steam input on?

I get this issue as well - any time the game loses focus both controller and keyboard input stop being recognised. The mouse still works for some reason though.
Unplugging and plugging back in doesn't even fix it.

No control issues here. I have a EasySMX X20 controller, in dongle mode. Which make's it be similar to Xbox 360 or Xbox one. I also have a Xbox One model 1807 controller and an Xbox Series X/S controller. All work perfectly fine. Dualsense works fine too.

I never touched anything for steam input since the game's store page said full compatibility.
I just checked and it is in recomended.

I haven't had any issues with losing focus. It works perfectly fine.
Are you guys playing in exclusive/fullscreen or windowed/windowed borderless?
I think mine is Windowed borderless. Some games have issues with that when you go losing focus. that's why most games nowadays default is borderless window.
