Bosses Ranked
Yes I am doing it. Ranking all the main bosses you fight throughout the game. There are a couple exclusions for my list though. Not including most of the minibosses since optional or not, many of them feel like glorified enemy encounters. Will be including one mini boss in particular though...both versions of his fight...
Also not going to talk about Kanghui since I can't for the life of me remember anything about the fight despite being mandatory. Also I feel the difficulty for pretty much all of these fights are essentially hard but fair (for the most part). Plus my bias towards how much I like a character won't earn them any points for my ranking sadly (you'll see what I mean on one of the lower entries :steamsad:). Without further ado here is my list!

10. Goumang: Easily the worst fight in the game imo. I had some trouble with it at first (fought her before getting the first health upgrade from Shennong initially). But as I was dealing with the first phase, I was like: "Wow this is actually pretty manageable, but coming off from the previous fight with Yingzhao, I am sure the second phase will be harder!" You could only imagine the disappointment on my face when I discovered there was no second phase ಠ_ಠ. I actually wonder if this was one of the fights that had content of it cut due to development issue, something that plagued one of the fights higher on the list. All in all, utterly disappointed...

9. Headless Xingtian. Yeah this was the mini boss I said I would include both versions of in separate ranking spots. Won't say much about the initial Xingtian fight right now since I will have more to say further up the rankings, but this version of his fight, as essentially your reward for completing Chiyou's questline honestly isn't really worth it, since it is just a harder and worse version of the previous encounter with him. His attacks are apparently slightly altered according to the wiki (been awhile since I did the first Xingtian fight since you can't re-fight him from Battle Memories) but the added hazards make the fight rather annoying with the blobs that fall from the ceiling and the two mutants that spawn which as you would know, you can only kill with a finishing talisman explosion. Just an annoying mediocre fight overall.

8. Yanlao. I like the music, but the fight itself is rather forgettable and among the easier ones. Attacks are easy to parry and/or dodge, and the lasers are easy enough to dash through. Just an overall 'eh' fight.

7. Xingtian. This fight was alright for what it's worth. It acts as a good way to have you utilize the charge strike effectively as it can stop his regeneration move. Decent fight all around.

6. Ji. This one kinda hurts because Ji is literally my favorite character in the game. But even I will have to admit, his fight was one of the weaker ones, especially since I fought him after beating the Fengs (felt it was more climatic to do him before Eigong since not only has he been a recurring character prior, but is also the catalyst for the Tianhuo Virus existing thanks to Eigong). I like the gimmick of the fight, choosing which attack he will do at certain points in the fight during both phases, but his fight felt...a bit easy and underwhelming. So sorry Ji, but you are stuck at the bottom half of this list. Also I heard from I think a Youtube comment that he was apparently supposed to have a third phase, but it got cut for some reason. Can anyone confirm me on this?

5. The Fengs. Yes it is arguably the hardest fight in the game. Yes the second phase is a bit ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with Nuwa's various projectile attacks while dealing with ♥♥♥♥, and I would sorta agree actually. Doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the fight though! Despite how hard it was, and despite the fact it's worse than three bosses I fought previously. I still had a decent time with it. Also music is a bop.

4. Yingzhao. Fantastic first boss (provided you go for Kaufu first like the game urges you to do so). It's challenging and a perfect way to test you on everything you have learned so far combat wise.

3. Lady Ethereal. After the going through the nightmare fuel-esque segment that was her Soulscape, you fight which many consider to be one of the best bosses, if not the best boss in the game. Why is it at only 3rd place though? Well giving her three phases, despite having lower health than most other bosses for each phase, made it feel like it went on for rather long. But still a great fight nonetheless as you figure out ways to reach her in the air as well as dealing with her clones while you try to strike the real one. Also side not, am I the only one who gets Toriel from Undertale/Deltarune vibes when looking at her character design?

2. Jiequan. The fight presents itself as a clash between warriors. One is a fangshi either trying to stop Eigong out of revenge or to right his wrongs and let those more deserving than him live and prosper (depending on the ending you go for) and the other is a cruel and sadistic brute who loves a fight to the death. Hard but doable enough overall! Also I feel that this fight has you utilize the charge strike to stop his healing better than with the Xingtian fight on a side note. Also also you can make his fight a little easier by giving the toxin while he is still in the transmutation chamber. From a narrative perspective, I like how he seems amused at Yi from him playing such a dirty tactic on him. I did use the toxin myself but I primarily did it for the achievement.

1. Eigong. Yes, you can give me the jester award now. Why is the final boss, who is considered to be a massive difficulty spike by many, who had me take a break and get back to beating her a few months later? Well, I just had a lot of fun learning her attacks and how to dodge and counter them. It's a prime example of a 'hard but fair' fight. And I feel that final bosses should be the ultimate challenge for the player at the end of their journey (especially considering Nine Sols doesn't have any other challenges beyond her) and while a lot of games don't deliver on the final boss, this one certainly does!

Anyway that's my ranking. I also apparently am the only one on here that make a ranking list on the bosses, but the other list I saw didn't include the Xingtian fights and also my opinions are different of course!
