There is also no indicators for certain abilities you need to pass thru a section. So as soon as you get that ability, you have no real clue where you can use it.
You also dont see mini bosses even when you already have the chip.
All that would be fine if you would just give me my own markers, but there are not.
I still think it's a horrible map system.
which area?
I dont care to check rn, because idk what prevented me from reaching this section and i might still be unable to get there.
You can go the upper way but the lower section (left) is unreachable without a skill i didnt had at that time (and maybe still dont have)
You see zero difference at the map.

There is nothing in the lower left section of this map (no new routes or anything) and I don't even think there's any chest there so you haven't missed anything.
But tbh maybe you dont really need markers because there is not really much to be found.
And the new areas you can only access with new abilities are not that many.
This part of the game feels a bit underwhelming.
Travesing the map is tedious in general. Like the heat area or the moving boxes. Just a horrible slow pace.
Combat is mostly fun but the map annoys me in almost every aspect 😅
It's there as a part of environmental storytelling, but yes, this game is a lot lighter on exploration and platforming...it's all about the combat. Also, sounds like you're still earlier on in the game so it will get easier to traverse the map so that will improve. I personally loved the initial implementation of the map (where you didn't even get the detailed map initially) but I know I'm one of the few.
Took a while to remember that elevator that goes up and is protected by a dark laser, or whatever you wanna call it.
Well i would have put a marker there, if that would be an option 🤷♂️
yeah, there's not even any enemies there. It's just a space that has a floor that kills you. I'm not sure why it's even there.
The funny thing is, when the OP mentioned his issue with the map, I instantly thought of that space but there could be other areas similar that I'm not thinking of.
I think they chose the right option in making it simple and then highlighting the area you want to check the detailed form of. Just picturing them all detailed at once makes my eyes hurt lol
I will say they could definitely add map markers that you yourself can place as well as boss encounters if you have already come across them. I didn't really have trouble finding where I needed to backtrack to because I was mostly able to finish each area out when I left them, save for a few.
To each their own I guess
