few beginner questions
1) where are you supposed to go. The game tells you once in a conversation, and i didnt really catch it.

Because everywhere, where i go it feels like enemies hit too hard.

- made it down the reservior, faced that huge general whatever centaur boss a few times but he kills you in two hits. I can't even kill that mini boss there.

- made it into the Lake / greenhouse area and most enemies are fine but ended up in an area where i deal no damage and die way too quick.

It feels like there should be a better sence of direction on the map. I could go back now where i meet that cat lady, where i crashed down with the elevator, or go into the space air look.

Just telll me if i'm totally of and missing something.

There were a few other paths but they were locked by unbeatable statues.

2) which leads me to the map. No markers? Not from the game or your own? Is that what the chip is fore in the end? I mean i would really appreciate it. if they yould just let you use custom markers, like hollow knight or elden ring.

If the chip give you not all points of interest, which is kinda bad as well, there is no chance i will remember all areas where i should go back. It's not always indicated by an open map piece you havent visisted yet.

3) how do you lvl up HP and attack? I found an upgrade for the pipe. Do i need to use them? How do you absorb these flowers you find? Does the game do it automatically?

Sry, if these sound stupid. But it really feels a bit unintuitive and i start to dislike the game, which would be a shame, because it looks great and has good potential.

I actually played quite some metroidvania games. But some things in this one just feel a bit off. Also the map interface overall feels a bit cumbersome.

I beat path of pain and the pantheon of the knight in hollow knight. I also beat ascended markoth. So i guess i should be ready for this game :D

thx

1) The Centaur is the intended first boss. Yes, he's tough. If you get the skill to allow rolling after getting smacked into the dirt you can avoid getting combo'd off the overhead but otherwise you're going to need to get used to his parry timings. The Boss fights are the toughest part of, and the definite highlight, of this game.

Imo, the centaur is one of the tougher ones so far (just beat #5) because you have so little stats and options compared to later in the game and the 1-2 combo of getting smacked into the ground followed by the uppercut without being able to roll dodge if you lack the requisite skill to avoid the follow-up makes him very unforgiving.

Be ready to get smacked around by the other bosses too while practicing their parry timings, movesets, and counter strategies. If after getting bounced around by the centaur is too frustrating to deal with then don't be afraid to hop over to Story difficulty where you can set the damage taken/dealt values to whatever feels comfortable, just remember that the intended difficulty for the narrative is to get smacked around a few times before you eventually overcome the challenge.

1b) The enemies damage tends to scale such that if you're in an appropriate zone for the point in the story they'll deal a significant amount of health on each hit. A couple tips is that each enemy only really has 3 or so moves that you need to get the parry timing down and don't be afraid to use your Mystic Nymph to scout around and plan attacks on areas before stumbling into them. Even simple scouting to ready yourself for threats can help limit unnecessary damage from surprises not including times where scouting can let you take out key threats/annoyances before involving other enemies in a group.

2) There are no markers which you can place, but from my own experience you can get most, if not all the secrets in the first pass through of an area with whatever ability they grant you for that area. The map chips tell you how many chests and secrets you've found for the covered areas but you'll need to have restored the Shanhai 9000 in your pavilion first to use them. This game is much more focused on combat and its narrative story than exploration compared to some of its peers.

3) Attack you need to find the Tao Fruit scattered around. HP and Medicine Pipe you need to progress through the game, including beating the Centaur for the latter. Just make sure to get at least 1 poison item on hand as you go along.

Thx. 😊 i'll give that guy another go.

I have 4 of those fruits. How do i use them tho? Or do you just need to find them?

Can you see your attack power anywhere?

Thx again.

By collecting the tao fruits, your attack power increases automatically. I don't remember if it actually tells you your attack power anywhere.

Regarding the boss, this is probably the first real trial of the game since you need to get used to the whole parry stuff. Once you've done that, the game becomes significantly easier imo (except maybe a few bosses).

Thx. Yea. That boss felt pretty early for such a challange.

I kinda hate that he fill almost the entire arena, because he is so big.

Might have a better chance no with damage upgrades. 👍

You just have to find and collect them, they increase your attack power automatically. I don't think there's a way to see your power level. Also, your starting talisman move can use up to 3 Qi at once and deals more damage as you use more Qi with it. You said you were in the Greenhouse correct? If so, you might be able to use the charged slash to deal decent damage to him as he passes by after parrying his dash attacks.

Also you don't have to worry about touching his hurtbox. Contact damage is more the exception for enemies rather than the rule as compared to Hollow Knight so feel free to bump up against most enemies as you slash them if you want. In this way, his large size is more of a setback as you can freely attack more of him and is key to hitting him as he passes by on his dash attacks. His weapon's range/coverage area on the other hand is more or less designed to let you know you need to get used to parrying. Keep practicing at it and good luck!

Also, one thing I forgot for 3) is that Medicine Vials instantly increases you max use for the pipe and refills all your previous vials as well. The healing amount per use does require progression though.

Thx again. I'll give the game another go later 👍

Well i beat the General and found the Teddy Bear.

I guess finding a few flowers helped, but tbh the moveset is not really difficult. The only problem is, one mistake can cost you the fight because of the insane damage and some weird follow up attack.

It's not that the fight was super bad, just felt a bit cheap imo.

Thx for all the help tho :3
