Switching back to story mode

Cannot kill Lady Ethereal, it's going to make me quit the game, so, do you know if i switch to story mode, can i switch back to standard after the fight?

I think it's the age. XDD. I'm 42.

My neurons are not quick enough to send the message from the eyes to the fingers.

I barely reach the third stage, It seems impossible to me. I'm not blaming the game, i think it's quite fair.

I just want to pass on this fight, and keep playing as i was.

Tbh I'm not sure how much reaction based this is, but I suspect that by focusing on survival and blocking (not even precise parrying) you can defend well enough. Timing for block (aka imprecise parry) is pretty lenient. Imternal damage accumulated can be dealt with via jade that heals it when you attack with the sword, plus maybe also "regen internal damage faster" jade. The only real threat for you would be crimson attacks, which you have to dodge (or tai-chi counter). Only counterattack when you have time window for that. This way, fight may last for a while but you can outlast her with less skill required.

Just keep at it your reaction time will improve as you keep attempting to the point it will seem her movements are slower and easier to react to.
Also does help that she does have a rhythm

I'm around your age and it took me maybe 4 days to beat this boss. I was giving it a few tries per day or session, maybe a couple short sessions per day if I wasn't tired. By the time I was able to beat her, she seemed easier (I guess I just had more practice with the parry timing and could get to the third phase with no damage at times).

The game indicates that you can't switch back to standard mode once you change to story mode (not sure if this was changed with any recent updates). There are two bosses you can try after Ethereal, feng twins were pretty difficult at first, but I was able to defeat them faster than Ethereal. Ji was much easier, but perhaps that was because I did the harder boss first. At the last boss right now and I think it will take some time to learn the fight. I think most of these harder bosses is just learning the fight and executing properly without too many mistakes.

I'm fairly sure a 42 year old can still very much have reflexes trained enough to beat this. Brains can be trained (just ask Dr. Kawashima :P), but not wanting to put effort into doing that is also understandable.

If you switch to Story Mode, it's permanent. You can't switch back, but you do have control over the sliders. That's to say, you can set your damage output and damage received back down/up to 100%, and it'll be the same as it was before, You just miss out on the related achievement.

The "old people got no brain plasticity" news paraded widely by media got later refuted by newer research with less fanfare. Old esports tournament players are age 50+ so there's hard evidence your age is not a hard limit. And positive mindset is proven to boost performance. Gotta believe you can do it.

That's how I got through at least lol.

toughest fight for me so far for sure. I almost rage quit. Take a break and come back fresh. learn to dodge the ultimate move in the 3rd phase and only attack the real one. watch a youtube video as well. I finally got her after like 30 tries.

i know the feeling while i made it though that fight but i ended up switching to story mode for the final boss. love the game but ended up hitting my skill limit and being stuck on a boss for 2 days well the game itsself started to be more irritating than fun. but iv beaten it and now i can move on to the next game iv been wanting to play

I just kill her. Seems like i just needed a little bit of motivation.

And maybe a little bit of brains.....I wasn't "exploding" the talismanes, just stunning her and hitting with slashes. When i realized i can make tons of "internal damage" to her by exploding the charms....easy peasy. Second phase was way more difficulty for me than the third one.

Glad you did it, congrats! Should note that by Lady E I've got upgraded Water flow talismans – they explode by themselves after few seconds while allowing Yi to attack or dodge/parry, tho damage isn't that high but Lady E still get stunned + hit by proper talisman explosion. Other two upgraded talisman styles are also powerful in their regards, but Water flow is the "attach and forget".
