Fluidity and Hit-Box Issues
I'm not sure if it's just me, but I feel like the game's really lacking in feedback response timing resulting in really poor gameplay performance. I'm currently using a PS4 controller, and I've played with a PS5 controller as well. No, it's not my computer--it's mid-high end--plus this game hardly requires much to run anyway.

I feel like I'm consistently finding Yi not doing what I'm inputting, whether it's letting go of a rope when I press jump, or trying to short-hop to air block, or even just air blocking in general.

Another issue I'm having is hit-box registration. I've had numerous clear and concise hits from air blocks on bigger enemies and smaller ones that don't register, and tippers that don't connect even when it's very clear Yi's sword is connecting with the enemy.

These types of games are among my absolute favorite. I've played hundreds of hours across myriad games, including Hollow Knight, Salt and Sanctuary, Vernal Edge, Bloodstained and so on. I get that this game's going more down the Sekiro, parry-timing style game, and I love that and feel comfy with its system. Sure, you can slam me with the "get good"--which don't get me wrong, this game definitely is proper difficult--but difficulty and timing aside, it just doesn't feel as fluid as Nine Sols's counterparts.

Is anyone else having these issues?

Didn't feel it at all. Are you sure you don't have memory issues or something? The game isn't that light on performance.

I haven't had any problems. In fact, this game has some of the crispest and most responsive movement I've experienced in a game of its kind.

I have absolutely no problem with movement or with my hits registering, but I gotta say sometimes the hitboxes of the enemies attacks are a bit ridiculous. You can learn to work around it but sometimes you get into ridiculous situations like this one, where you seem to get hit if you're anywhere in the whole path of the attack, even if you dash behind the guy (bit of a spoiler for Jiequan, don't watch if you don't know who that is):

It might have something to do with this being a 2D game and therefore the frames of animation are far more limited in comparison to a 3D game. So it could be harder to pin down parry timing when you're relying on your eyes.

Although Salt and Sanctuary is also a 2D game the characters various body parts are independently rotated and so scales better with high refresh rates. Whereas this game relies on sprites to animate the character's entire body so it doesn't matter what refresh rate you're playing it.

I got through this game by remembering the timing of attacks and looking for the white glint before an attack starts.

It won't be your controller that is an issue, I played this game with an old, beat up Xbox 360 controller (but I personally think they made controllers more robust back then). In terms of the ropes, you have to TELL Yi to grab it, he doesn't automatically grab ropes so if you miss the "up" input on the controller he just...falls and dies. Probably one of the things that irritates me the most.

I can't say that I ever had an issue with Yi's sword not hitting, but my recommendation would be to equip the jade that reduces knockback on parry. It may be the case that you are taking into account your positioning before the enemy attacks, and after parrying you are knocked out of attack range that may help.

I keep missing the ropes. Am I suppose to hold X while moving, hold X without moving, or just move forward without hold X? I'm on PS5
