Before fighting him you can do something with an interactable thing in his room, but it said that i dont have anything to put in it, and not it's unavalable. Did i missed out on some content?

There's a gene-eraser item you can pick up around the factory area if you explore some more. It makes the boss easier and gives you an achievement.

Out of curiousity, is there any way to put him back once you've started the fight without it? I picked up the item but assumed it was some plot device to trivialize the fight and wanted to give it at least another _attempt_ at his full power before doing what I assumed would be an irreversible easy mode.

Nope, once you get him out you're stuck fighting that version until you kill him, unless you want to start the game all over.

do we know what exactly it does? attack speed, hp, etc?

I put it in, I think he takes very minor chip damage and he has a special 'coughing' animation at the start of the fight and at random intervals. It's a great damage/healing window and it really gives you a nice breather.
