there's only one way to pick the costumes and I can't seem to arrive there because the wooden log (near where snorkmaiden is) that allows me to is on the other side and I can't move it because I'm too far away

Are you still stuck? I think you're searching for the entrance a the wrong end of the way. The wooden log near Snorkmaiden and the Well is actually the exit, when you're done with the costumes and on your way back. You cannot move the log towards you, only push it from the other side. To pick up the costumes, look for another way further upwards...
Get through the huge park to the right of the Park Keeper's house. Its entrance is underneath the house, where the two police offices were standing. They leave after handing them their invitation to the theater. Destroy the park and you're on your way to get the costumes at Fillyjonks house.
