The creatures getting stuck sometimes is something I am aware of and plan on fixing by the time it ships. The short version is that by default, creatures will want to path in completely straight lines which feels really weird. I curve their paths when they navigate though. I try to check for obstacles and not do this if something is in the way but occassionally it fails.
I'll be adding some additional checks and behaviors if they do happen to get stuck. It generally seems pretty rare though thankfully. I tend to see it maybe 4-5 times on a playthrough.
I have ~31 bugs/tasks I want to hit by ship though and it's high up on the list.
