New map system?

How can we inspect the map? I found one of the free spirit arrow shrines, but can't find anything new to interact with in the safe area.


From the patch notes:

-New map system - There is now a way to keep track of where you have been in the world and a map that you can examine in the safe area. Areas are unlocked by finding a new type of altar out in the world that also acts as a permanent spot that you can get a free spirit arrow view from. There are new markers on the tables for each region to show how many of these exist in each region.

Oh, I think I see it now and it would have been more obvious if I had found 2+ shrines.

Yeah, at first it looks like nothing but a pile of brick. I've got the whole desert and part of a couple of other areas cleared and to be honest I don't expect to get a lot of use out of it. I had hoped to see some pin lights for portals, but just looks like terrain. Cool looking, though.

I'll probably add dots for the portals but I didn't want to overload it with stuff.

Where is it? ive been trying to find this thing forever now... You mention a pile of bricks... is that the area in the middle of the hub that holds our weapons and stuff; kind of in the middle of the monster garden/museum? I dont see anything resembling a map at all (or a pile of bricks)... I'll go look again...

how do you reveal bigger squares is there an alter per square or something else like some alter reveal more?

Most of them are one square per altar, but I think there might be a few exceptions to that near some of the edges of some regions, but that's just to uncover some border stuff outside the map, like the huge horned skeleton.
