Was this game created by A.I.? Serious question...
Everything is so nonsensical. The animations are weirdly off, the dialogue is bizarre, the way things happen make no sense, the bugs don't feel like bugs, they feel like this game was created by some sort of artificial intelligence that doesn't fully understand story, or the order of events, or even basic human logic or interaction

Just for example, I walk into a room, pause, and scream...at nothing. A few seconds later a creepy woman materializes (dead grandmother i'm guessing) and shambles toward me in an unnatural way, i'm frozen in terror, mouth agape, arm outstretched, she disappears... suddenly i'm totally calm again and shuffling around in my fuzzy slippers, saying "now where was that breaker box, ho hum". Or i walk down stairs, immediately fall down and am SUPERNATURALLY DRAGGED ACROSS THE FLOOR SCREAMING, then suddenly boom, i'm standing up in front of the front door, totally calm and collected as if I didn't just get dragged across the living room by an evil entity, and back to shuffling around again, totally contentedly, like nothing happened...until the old woman pops up again from around a corner and I SCREAM! Then instantly become weirdly calm again, and say "I better go contact what's her face on Tinder"...la la la la. And then in the next scene i'm in a car and having the most artificial, and awkward conversation with my apparent new girlfriend...

And the puzzles? Make no sense whatsoever. I solved the clock by randomly trying midnight. The piano, with numbers, and broken keys, and color coding? No idea how I was supposed to solve that. No context given. I literally just banged out keys until it suddenly worked.

The only thing i've seen even resembling this weird, erratic behavior and unnatural animation was that "Nothing Forever" completely A.I. driven show on Twitch. So seroius question... was this game designed, and or finished by A.I.?

The girl in the car is his long lost sister. I know what you mean with the part about getting dragged across the hallway floor, but the video I saw had the camera jump high up to the ceiling where you couldn't see anything but the ceiling moving towards you.

Maybe the game was supposed to be a halloween joke.

Haha, the camera jumping to the ceiling happened to me too! Only when the grandma was first supposed to appear, only I didn't realize that. The camera jumps to the ceiling, I sit there waiting for, i dunno...something to crawl across the ceiling, until I realized nothing was, then had to force the camera down (as it fought me to go back up) to glimpse her staring at me for a sec. Then BOOM! Daniel goes from open mouthed shrieking to instant calmness, as if nothing just happened

...I think this game is HAUNTED :)

ok, so you don´t understand something, then must be aliens... er AI.

Just an example, for the clock puzzle, did you notice the walls had some weird drawing on them? They might look runes, but these are 00:00

Puzzle I didn´t like was to use american date format... makes no sense to use first the month, then the day, but that´s a different topic that goes to nowhere.

beside everything you said, I cant stop laughing about all the "scare events" :D
When you get the gun and shoot your way through dozens of useless enemies, an ammo crate appears every 5 meters and they are all the same asset...
Also, the phone calls with Martha, wtf... There are long ways where you run during the phone calls, just to run into enemies and you can do absolutely nothing, because the controls are locked during the call. xD

How can you release a game like this for 30 dollars?

I have the same opinion.
Many people are discovering new bugs.
Scary events are happening randomly.
I really can't believe Devs did a playtest.

There is also plenty of unintended fun to be had by making your character completely spaz out any time they attempt to use the computer. You get locked into a typing animation, but the camera is still free, for some reason, so you can swing your head back and forth at the ceiling like Stevie Wonder, swing it violently around like a tweaker possessed by demon, or just nod it unnaturally up and down like the valium just kicked in, all while having a weirdly aggressive conversation with your sister girlfriend you just met online 5 minutes ago. Fun stuff

This game feels like it was only like 30% finished, then rushed very suddenly. My guess is the devs or the publishers ran out of money very quickly, or unexpectedly, and were like "FINISH IT NOW! IT NEEDS TO COME OUT BEFORE HALLOWEEN!" and this is the end result. And in this scramble they either used A.I. to finish a lot of the work, or simply slapped the unfinished mess together despite the fact that nothing really made sense in this half done state, and shipped it

I honestly don't think they had the time. After playing it, and experiencing it's uniquely weird vibe I am convinced that this game wasn't remotely finished when the time frame suddenly changed dramatically (devs ran out of money?) and they made a call to finish immediately, despite whether it ran at all, or even made any sense whatsoever so it could ship before Halloween and maximize any profit possible

Some of this game feels far more finished than other parts. The graphics for instance, when not being marred by the buggy, flickering, glitchy mess of this half completed game engine, look pretty decent. At least the character models and house (I didn't make it much farther than that before refunding) look competently done. Everything else though, just falls apart at the seams. This was not a finished game

The puzzles aren't what feels like they were made by weird A.I. logic, to be honest. They just feel lazy. It's the utterly weird behavior of the characters, the wonky animation (as if made by something that gets the basics of human anatomy, but doesn't really understand how any of it works) the bizarre stilted dialogue, and inhuman reactions to everything (he sees his dead grandma shambling toward him, SCREAMS! she disappears, his reaction instantly drops back to a totally normal, relaxed state, and then he goes back to just casually walking around the house like all is well. And doesn't even comment on it (This isn't how humans behave, but it's how bad A.I. thinks we do)

To be honest, everything else was so buggy, unnatural, and unintentionally unnerving about this barely functioning game, that I didn't even try to pay attention to things like the runes on the walls (that yes, in retrospect I did notice but it didn't register) because i wasn't even sure what was intentional or not. Like, when a game is barely held together with glue, and nothing seems finished, it just doesn't even register to look for logic

Though, I also ended up just powering through each puzzle. I randomly tried midnight, i hit the functioning keys until it worked, and I figured out the block puzzle pretty quickly just by solving the first couple three letter words. When you can easily solve every puzzle using none of the clues, those are some basic ass puzzles, lol

Yikes... not sure what is scarier. The army of identical mummies standing together like extras on break, waiting to do the Thriller dance, or the player characters with inhumanly botoxed looking expresionless faces

Of course, they don't look any worse than the player models for labyrinthine, who also have that weird, drunk who's lost a bet, 1000 yard stare :)

The spinning log traps looked cool at least

Creature assets flip, and the enemy AI in Stray Souls is clearly broken.
It's also hilarious to see my girlfriend on top of trash cans and drums every time a cutscene ends.
Running away from an enemy, I got pulled into a wormhole.
There are still many new bugs to be discovered.
How long do you think it will take to fix these?

So...this wonky game is actually a Frankenstein? If it's made up of the stolen parts of other broken games I think they definitely swiped the brain for this A.I. from the jar marked "ABNORMAL". This game is a monster

That actually makes it sound cooler, somehow. In fact, after reading the rest of your post about wormholes, teleporting trashcan girlfriends, and recalling myself being drug across the floor randomly screaming, only to then be fine, like it never happened...honestly... i'm starting to wonder if we are looking at this the wrong way. I'm starting to wonder if this game isn't so bizarre because it was rushed and made poorly.... I think it's HAUNTED

It's made up of the dead, reanimated pieces of other games, and probably powered by orphan hearts, and definitely was created using a dark ritual, and it only feels so off because it's running on some sort of script downloaded from a server in HELL

Perhaps part of the fun with all of this is creating your own scary horror story to justify spending $30

I like that. I once played a very buggy version of Skyrim where not only did mammoths occasionally rain down from...Valhalla? To instantly die on impact for, I dunno, haunted reasons, but at one point I came to a lake where all of the water had mysteriously vanished. Or at least become invisible. The fish swimming around in it, as well as myself, were not invisible, so my friend and I...and my barbarian, decided that "this was no BUG! By the GODS! This is SORCERY MOST FOUL, AFOOT!" (as was any other glitch we encountered, including a giant's hit launching my follower Sven roughly a mile into the stratosphere) and began a quest to find and kill this dark wizard, for power this evil, that can control of the very fabric of reality must be vanquished...or at least stolen

So I mean...I suppose I could make this game work as well. But I dunno... I might have to just keep refunding after, like 2 hours and buy it 18 times

I had no preconceived notions about this game. Not a single clue about the demo, nor the genre. I watched a friend play this from the start. I was bewildered by the plot progression and the dialogue. It was so bizarre. Can speech be uncanny valley? Because that's what it felt like. I legit asked my friend if the dialogue and story was written by ChatGPT. The characters don't react logically even for a horror story. It's hard to suspend belief with the way things play out.

There are many out of place scenes and lines, but one for example was when the protag is pleasantly surprised with birthday fireworks, only moments after fighting for his life against unexplained demonic creatures. "GEE THANKS, SIS. WHAT AN AWESOME BDAY IM HAVING!"
It's like the characters aren't aware of how dire their situation is at all.

Which doesn't help with the horrific atmosphere.
