Unless an enemy is staggered, he will often block the end of the combo - in the early game, until you upgrade the speed of single sword attacks later on.

Enemies block a lot more compared to the original, but it is way more fun as you are forced to dodge and counter instead of repeating primitive spam combos starting with the block breaker.

Ah yes the classic RGG struggling to make a comprehensive early game skill tree. Love the studio but thats the one thing I feel they get wrong every time is like progression. Not the end of the world tho games still great and if i can get through Kiwami 1s early game of getting punched halfway across the planet during chapter 2s boss since you legitimately cannot learn the combos to counter his style yet I can handle this too

ishin is a fantastic game! i implore you to ignore the gun and play with katana only (swordsman, not wild dancer). Real samurai don't need guns and combat is very satisfying once you get a feel for sidesteps timings.
