You should look for the key bindings to change your styles. I've played with a controller so I don't them.
You actually can though it is more of a sidestep and redirecting their attack animationwise.
I guess you got stuck here? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8fvf6mCz_I
If so then yeah, you're probably better off refunding it if the tutorial gives you too much trouble.
par·ry
verb
ward off (a weapon or attack) with a countermove.
Not the game's fault you don't know English.
So when you see a fighter evade a strike from a sword, by moving away from the sword in a swift and agile way, you say he has parried that blow? A "countermove" in this sense means a move of one's own sword or shield against the attacker's sword, as to parry said sword. In the hundreds of fighting games I've played over the years, the word "parry" has always meant to counterstrike the incoming blow with your own sword/shield. What we see in the video is a dodge, strafe, evasion, side-step or even a body-swerve. But not a parry.
this isn't even semantics, you're just wrong. Guy in vid is redirecting the attack and using the opponent's movement and weight against him via his hands/arms. he's literally warding off the attack with a countermove.
"hundreds of fighting games" This must be your first one involving bare-handed fighting then? because this is a very common move, even outside video games. i struggle to understand your thought process here
I understand where the OP is coming from, I had a similar moment in a basketball game where my character could no longer walk or run after faking a shot. I too thought about uninstalling the game, but was eventually told that this is a simple rule of real basketball...
Anyways, ishin is a great game and is highly recommended.
