Gold chunk?

Where the hell can i reliably find gold chunks?

A special type of vendor that spawns up on Shijo street. I think they're only like 5500 mon.

He'll have the dark purple rectangular boxes like the other specialty vendors. Might have to reload the area a few times

I can't get the correct trader to spawn, is his spawning bound to a certain chapter/ time of day?
Guide says the one i'm looking for is a general goods merchant, but the only one i encountered is one selling weapons only.

I know he spawns in the daytime by the start of chapter 5. He might not be 24h but I thought I saw him in the evening before.

If you pop in and out of the west gate where he often spawns you should get him within maybe 5 or 6 cycles max. Of course, it's RNG so the game may decide that, for you, it will take a hundred.

EDIT: Just found him randomly. Sorry its bright red not purple (the guy is normally dressed in dark purple tho in my defense )and the cost per chunk is 5800 mon

I'm a tad confused over this guy.

I found a vendor with the Red Boxes, but he isn't selling Gold Chunks

Instead he's selling these 3 weapons and 1 piece of gear
-Tuna Smith
-Doll on a Stick
-Pigeon Cannon
-Fighters Binding

And rather then the dialogue in your screen shot about Selling the "Best Stuff" he's says

"Welcome, Buddy. I only sell the (good) stuff. Go on, take a peak"

So I can only assume there is 2 guys with the red boxes, since I have yet to see him where the Black and Purple stripes.

Edit: I did a dungeon to see if Passing in game time that way worked, and I don't know if it was a coincidence, but I found "The Best" guy with the gold chunks right away after that.

Aye, there are two of them (technically 3). The Tuna Smith guy normally only carries the katana until you do certain things to expand his products but iirc the Gold Chunk guy starts with his full inventory.

The weapon dealer seems to be a little over twice as likely to appear as the mat vendor.

To get that first screenshot above I loaded a clean run from the start of chapter 5 at low level with no rep and almost no sub-stories. This is what he had for sale:

damn finally after 1 hour going in and out west gate to respawn the dudes i finally found him, also thanks for this discussion I wouldn't know there was a gold chunk seller as i'm in need of like 60 of those for smithing and that would've been a HELL farming the dungeons (as if sanada isnt already to much)

I wish the one that sells the golden chunk had a higher spawn rate instead of the one with the weapons. Game is already grindy enough as is.
