Seal System
After getting all 45 seals in the game - must admit it was not a pleasant experience and i urge RGG to change the way you obtain them in the future patches. You get introduced to them casually when talking to the blacksmith but they rarely drop, and normal players won't be able to see about half of them even after finishing main story+all substories. Letting these seals drop from normal fights/dungeons would solve the problem. Add 30-40% chance of any seal dropping that way ( or something similar ) and people will be able to customize their weapons/armor how they see fit.

P.S. It is clearly not fun crafting stuff over and over again, then reloading your save file 5 times in a row and hoping a seal you need will appear on the next crafted item - trust me :rofpeter:

To be honest they could have just made it so you trade items for seals instead, and then done away with the RNG chances on them entirely. The game has enough grind without the seals aswell.

This could work as well

Also goes without saying they need to rebalance the seals bigtime. Some of them are ridiculously underpowered, and others are overpowered as hell.
Would be nice to see a bit more info on which seals stack, what values they cap at, and so on too.

Yeah, seal farming is just too much. I think I will give up from 100% this game. I've spend like 6 hours today just killing Golden Sneaks in order to get their unique seal Square Special moves, but the seal just isn't dropping. And knowing that it will take me who knows how many more hours to get some other seals is making me sick. The seal grind is just too much, pure RNG and it's ruining my experience.

I liked the game, but I've never seen a worse grind needed to 100% in any game than in this one. This is just ridiculous. I hope devs make some improvements with the next patch.

They won't change the grind at all. The patch will mostly just affect bugfixing. You have to remember, this is a fairly 1:1 remake of the original ishin, and the original ishin was from the era of very grindy and long entries, whilst also being a spinoff so it was never going to get the full workover that 5 and 0 got. They had to spend time making the other stuff for it like the new city, edo-era minigame variants, etc instead of just adding the same ♥♥♥♥ as usual. Gotta artifically inflate the playtime of it somehow, else they'd have a 40 hour game bookended by two 110 hour ones.

Maybe it's just me, but it actually feels like they listened. Out of nowhere today, seals have started dropping from trash enemies and not just sneaks.

This aged nicely xD

Thank god RGG boosted the drop rates with patch 1.04

The way to get seals from crafting is also confusing me. I'm not fully grasped on the concept but I did manage to get a few seals by doing that. I wish that instead of needing to do a method where you craft items with silver hammers, seals should just drop at a random chance, period.
Trygon Mar 29, 2023 @ 3:13am
The trick is if you ever see a new seal on a weapon that's not "locked" (has the four spikes on the edges, in the first few slots), disassemble the weapon and the seal will start dropping from combat encounters once it's in your 'obtained items' list.

This is an absolutely terrible system that's not explained anywhere ingame. Patching would be appreciated but seem unlikely.

Yeah, I really wish that the game told you that.

So I found on reddit that there's a method where you craft lots of keen blades with iron hammers -> then stonecarvers using the same type of hammer -> counting how many dropped before one dropped with a seal -> then craft that amount then the item you want. I usually save after I craft 10 just in case but then I crafted like 15 Stonecarvers or so and none had a seal. Although I craft the item before the one I want prior to carving the stonecarvers.

The worst part is when you've farmed the rarest and the most unique seals, and then you see "Failure" during enhancement, and you need to reload game again, and again, and again until you've successfully enhanced your weapon with those seals.

There's a mod on Nexus that puts seals in pots. I installed it very late in my playthrough and it feels balanced. They should have been integrating them into the loot as you level up, and they should appear on crafted weapons a lot more often, and enhancements should never fail, especially if the blacksmith's fully upgraded. I hunted for just two seals before I realised there was no way I'd make it to 45 with my sanity intact.
Jiren Mar 30, 2023 @ 10:05am
not only implementing rng for obtaining seals is bad itself , the rng system they placed is pure garbage. I am only my last 4 seals, and i cant even get a seal(new or old) after crafting 20 bloody weapons, not matter how many times i resetted crafting a non enhancable sword
Jiren Mar 30, 2023 @ 10:07am
madness, sq drunken craze, blessing and antidote are remaining ones for me. Cant even obtain a seal rn from crafting swords, let alone get ones that are already too f'in rare to get, even on a guaranteed drop
