Is wasting a seal the only way to reset the "seed" for enhancing?

I already know you can't just save scum to get successes with enhancing. But crafting a new weapon (even one with an empty slot) doesn't change the seed either. Or crafting 10. The only thing that makes a change is to spend one of my superfluous seals, or maybe 2, or 3, until finally I get a success with the seal I actually want.

That about right? Only seal enhancement attempts have any effect on the seal seed?

Bump. Seals are overtly rare and the game just forcing enhancement failures is such a huge pain. Would love it if the game didn't randomly choose to waste so much time with the seal system.

You can get those seals back by disassembling the weapons

Use a seal with a 100% chance on a stonecarver (or something you don't care about disassembling) then disassemble later. Seal saved, seed changed.

yes that is true. I would recommend maxing friendship with the arms dealer near the blacksmith. he sells worn swords for 1000 mon with 3 slots. you can use them as disposable seal holders for when you want to reset the seed, and disassemble them to get them back.
