Need some Honest opinions !
On the fence about this game.
It looks cool and all but it also seems low effort because of those outdated graphics. 60/70 euro price tag as well.

I would like to hear some of your opinions on this game.

Don't take this as an attack on anyone who bought this game, srsly just looking for some opinions :D

I think its a very interesting location with cool lore and a very different take on combat that is fun but so far has not massively wowed me. I do enjoy the side stories thus far though and like I said the world building is cool.

Always liked side story stuff. I just hate it when quests repeat itself or its always some fetch me this and that bullcrap :D

It's more of a Remaster than a Remake of a 2014 title so it's more in line with the Remasters of Yakuza 4 and 5 than any of the modern titles. Controls and camera feel very Yakuza 0-ish. in regards to combat this is a good thing imo, I always felt that the combat in the recent Dragon Engien titles was worse and more sluggish than the older titles. but visually this is basically a 2014 game with slightly upated textures and lightning. Not a full blown Remake like Kiwami 2.
wait for sale imo
it's an old game, doesn't justify the AAA price

Yep I basically agree with this aside from recent Dragon Engine titles being worse. Lost Judgement has some of the best combat in the entire series.

I checked out a few videos so i can see a bit of the combat and something that REALLY bugs me is attacks visually going through an enemy but the hit is not registered.

Is this a known issue or is there a mechanic i just don't know about that makes this "a thing". So weird, just adds to the low effort feeling :P

So far it has, in fact, wowed me. The late Edo setting is fantastic and I find the long combo based combat system to be super satisfying.

I'm playing on the highest difficulty setting (Ishin) and I get souls/nioh vibes just fighting random bandits. One wrongly timed sword thrust or missed parry often leads to 5 dudes delivering instant death by bukkake :rf5ryker:.

Its more of a floaty feeling to the combat due to the style but also when actually performing the moves it feels very smooth to transition into them from one to another and idk it just feels good imo. https://youtu.be/qbFpOC-pVzo

I mostly meant graphics quality and the slow build almost Akira Kurosawa like story telling hasn't massively wowed me I'm sure by the end of it I'll feel differently but I did mention I love the world and its lore.

It is not as explosive and bombastic like the Yakuza or Judgment series at all. This is much a more slow-placed game with a methodical feeling.

This game is very noiry, which I absolutely love!

I never played the OG one....so I'm enjoying this game. HOWEVER...it plays like a ps3 game...assuming it stayed a bit too faithful when it came to control mechanics. Since we're expected to pay a FULL price....I wish there was like new improved control/combat along with the option of the OG one...pretty much asking what RE remake had.

Also I frankly see no reason to switch to unreal engine...like just to get the night time right? Doesn't even support HDR! IMHO their own DE would've been a better choice over forcing their team to work on UE for something that LOOKS dated YET struggles to be smooth on my 4080 !?!? It looks like a lift n shift to UE with translated game and some new stuff that no one really asked for but "good" to have.

Other problem is I've been spoiled by Lost Judgement's combat....so was expecting it to be at that level or at least more fine tuned....the game has neither. If you're a fan...get it or else just wait for a sale.

I get why some people really liked LJ's combat but I personally never really developed a taste for it despite like 200 hours of playtime. I'm definitely liking Ishin's a lot more.

That said, imo Y7 had by far the best system of the whole franchise, but then again I love jrpg's so idk.

In terms of story, this feels like a play and all of the actors are from the Yakuza games, and it's absolutely brilliant. I'm at the start of CH3 (pre-ordered deluxe) and it's been interesting so far.

In terms of combat, I believe this game shares Yakuza 0's combat engine and it feels like 0 because of that. But I think that the weapons and styles available keep it fresh so that you wouldn't feel burnout if you play Yakuza 0 and move on to this. For me, this is a problem I had playing Yakuza Kiwami right after Yakuza 0 because the combat was literally copy-pasted. And one of the styles, Wild Dancer, is super satisfying to use.

I actually don't mind the graphics. At least on Ultra High, it seems like Y0 graphics but they touched up the anti-aliasing and now the contrast is a lot better. It definitely is a downgrade tho from the Dragon Engine RGG games.

I think of them as "classic" rather than "outdated". As long as the graphics are on par with the original PS4 version I'm satisfied. But hey, that's just me.

The full price is because this is the first release outside of Japan. For those of us in the West it is a new game (well, unless you're a fanboi like me and bought the PS4 J version on initial release).

It's nice to actually understand what's going on versus bumbling around on the J version like I did because my Japanese is pretty weak.
