It's enjoyable, I don't think there is other samurai games on PC and since it's different from way of the samurai games etc, for me this game is enjoyable no issues so far.

It's pretty much identical to the original PS4 release. Fun, if convoluted story that veers off into some weird territory thanks to using, you know, actual historical figures for its cast of characters; excellent but not exactly I pressive visuals; a combat system built for brawling that doesn't quite work as well when you're chopping folks up with a sword and shooting them in the face with a pistol.

It's definitely a must-buy for RGG fans, though I expect YMMV depending on how familiar you are with this historical period -- there's a lot of context to be aware of that the game has zero interest in explaining. Also a must-buy for fans of samurai stuff. For everyone else... I'd say it's a bit more of a toss-up.

EDIT: Should probably also add that performance is really good, even on my older Pc, though I have encountered a few annoying bugs -- nothing gamebreaking or even close to that, thankfully. Currently about 4 hours in.

More or less solid like other Yakuza/Like a Dragon games with similar gameplay loop, somewhat changed combat, somewhat changed but still recognizable progression, new set of mini games and side stories and intriguing main story.
If you played other Yakuza/Like a Dragon and do not mind that they re-use the same maps/locations/characters and do not chase for revolutionary game-play and graphics preferring good story and variety of activities - you should like this one too.

There's Way of the Samurai 3 and 4 on PC as well as Sekiro. And the Samurai Warriors games on PC as well.

It's a typical Yakuza/Like a Dragon title though not quite up to par with later titles. That goes for graphics, story and gameplay. Judgment/Lost Judgment were my favourite titles so far. I wasn't aware that the game is a remake of a PS3 title, that explains the difference.

While the Unreal Engine delivers more performance in general, visually the game isn't that impressive (no comparison to Hogwarts Legacy here). i didn't experience annoying FPS stutters so far (while the demo was rather choppy), I'm a bit more annoyed by the 30 FPS restriction for cinematical cutscenes and the wonky auto camera (I recommend to disable it). Combat isn't as fluid as the later titles and it has the short delay between encounter and fight of older titles.

Other than that it's a solid Yakuza title and I like the refreshing setting of 19th century Japan, shortly before the Meiji Era, ending the rule of the Shogunate and leading to extreme social and cultural changes in the country (imagine jumping from Renaissance to Industrialization in less than 50 years and you get the picture).

Performance: 120+ FPS (normal gameplay outside cutscenes), maxed settings, 4K res (2K native with DLDSR 2.25x)

System: i9 13900k, 32 GB DDR5, M2 SSD 7GB/S, RTX 3080ti

are cutscenes locked to 30 fps? and apparently theres some stutters due to typical unreal engine shenanigans

It's just your standard RGG game, nothing new or innovative. If yakuza and the like are your thing you should feel right at home. Visuals imo are a big step down from Y7, not sure what went wrong there. I just can't help but feel like this franchise is due for a major upgrade, it feels so tired and dated at this point but to each their own.

The combat changes itself up from the rest of the series just enough to give it a kind of fresh edge while still staying true to the roots of Yakuza.

Emulators will def help with that

so far I think this is the single worst of all of the Yakuza games available on PC. The combat is horrendously slow and clunky, most moves are useless (at least early game) and enemies love to just ignore your attacks and hyper armour through them (even on back hits).
Sacb0y Feb 18, 2023 @ 12:38am
I played 13 hours straight today haven't done that in a while, it's just as good as any other yakuza game minus the damn shader comp stutters and some other nit picks (Why does camera movement feel bad?). But at least this isn't the kind of game where the shader comp happens a ton, but when it does happen it's annoying.

Lack of HDR and 30fps cut scenes sucks when the rest of the game is 120fps easy.

I have not played recent yakuza games on PC besides Like a Dragon. This is visually on par with that, maybe a bit better in some areas lighting wise.
