Best way to farm high rarity materials?
I'm trying to farm Great Serpent Skins and other worn sworn materials but only got one from a very long dungeon and a substory. Is there a good place to try to go for them? Do they drop from enemies? I have every dungeon except the last few miniboss groups.
Not doing any long dungeons again. Those took ages and the spear men give me nightmares from how often they would end my runs

for battle dungeons, there's 4 fights in the last difficulty that can drop great serpent skins - trooper, gun squad, triumvirate, and the last fight against Sanada. But drops in battle dungeon aren't guaranteed.

if you just need one but haven't cleared scarecrow chateau much yet, extreme difficulty fight 1 guarantees a great serpent skin the first time you clear (subsequent clears only give scarecrow carvings iirc), but you'd have to clear every mission in the first 3 difficulties to unlock extreme.

sorry dude, battle dungeons are just the way to go from what I've gathered in my experience.

they can be long and tedious... but hey, if you still need to rank up your styles, then consider it free exp to level them up.

Yep, gotta do battle dungeons.
I really want the Amon sword but F*** the material requirements. That stuff never drops. EVER.

That's a pity. Wish the game developers would actually respect peoples' time.

The grind is unbearable, because they try to sell you these materials as one time use DLC. The disrespect is deliberate. And the waste of our time is built into the game itself, to force us to buy material in the shop.

My solution is, after just finding out about this, that I will just start up the cheat engine with this game as countermeasure. Even the first time I start the game. I will not run it without cheat engine in the background, to be able to give me more materials for my efforts.

With these shady methods they are just asking for this. I really hope they would just fix the drop rate in the game, so that I do not have to do this instead.

Their one time per save DLC's are already downwvoted to hell and back, so they do not even need to bother any longer trying to sell us this crap. It failed. We see what you are trying to do.

Yeah, just got done with the serpent skin grind. It took several hours of dying in the Gun Trooper dungeon (faster than doing the boss on Ishin diff). Yeah, very much not worth it.

I'm glad the requirements included 5 Great Serpent Skins and only 1 rainbow shard. I had 30 shards by the end. Thank you SEGA.

What were you making? Just curious.

For whatever reason, the Muramasa sword seems to do significantly more armor damage in dungeons than any other sword I have. Not sure if it's the poison attribute or what, but it does 5x the damage of anything else and makes the dungeons slightly more bearable. It seems like poison is being treated the same as acid damage on guns.

Regardless, the crafting grind in this game is absurd to the point where the whole system feels broken. The original version of the game didn't work like this and wasn't nearly as bad. I think this might be the first Yakuza series game I don't get all the achievements for.

Nah it's just the armor damage seal; I put a 10% bonus armor damage on my gun and it's shredding armor way easier.
Before the seal, it's basically useless to shoot an armored enemy unless you feel like spending 10 seconds shooting the same guy.

The Dragon Slayer also has bonus armor damage and it shredded only slightly worse than the Murasame I used to have.

I think armor damage seals are 10x more effective than they should be. (not complaining pls don't fix)

Most people forget, or don't know, that the original version of the game also had a PS Vita app that gave players access to mini games, Another Life, etc., and that the output from those games could be saved back to their main console game. it didn't accelerate resource collection, but it did let players do it while away from their main gaming rig.

No ♥♥♥♥? Actually pretty interesting. Does that mean you could do battle dungeons too?

I think so, but not 100% sure. I was playing around with the app earlier this evening to refresh my memory and didn't run across battle dungeons. The menus are pretty deep though, and my Japanese is pretty weak, so I may have just overlooked them.

You can lower the difficulty when you grind. It won't affect your chances for rare materials to come up. The chances are still ♥♥♥♥ anyway.

tbh, after running the entire Sanada Stronghold dungeon series and farming the last stage/boss for a bit, I had more then enough materials to craft the variant B/top-tier blacksmithing gear available at the time. I don't have variant-C unlocked yet.

Got 2 gold-tier/rank 5 swords and one gold-tier/rank 5 gun on my first playthrough by just putting in some time. Game is a cakewalk atm lol.

What I will say in regards to dungeons - the balancing/difficulty scaling in this game is egregiously bad. I have been on Normal for most of the playthrough but once I got to the 3rd Sanada Stronghold mission I was obliterated. I difficulty-scummed it and went to easy and made it a cakewalk to finish them all up. Enemies hit entirely too hard and have dump-truck loads of HP. Just isn't worth the headache. Once I got out of that hellscape I went back to normal.

TLDR; switch to easy and farm the Sanada Stronghold and you'll be set. Also, if you can, either find/craft a weapon with +% damage to armor ASAP. It will make that portion of the game exponentially easier.

I just can't stand the grind in any rgg, is so useless, and since 5 it went to an absurd level in the series... and, no, I can't find any method... I did like 60 dungeons with chance of drop item required, just to get any of the magical sword materials... I feel scammed, because is not one like the giant tuna, they are 60 freaking materials... to not get one after a hours and hours trying... and i'm not crying, is just that it doesn't work, is like the worst and slow slot I played in my life...
