Flying Horrible
I really like this game but the fly i could have used some tutorial in the ship i found it hard to figure out which way i was going especially up and down trying to dock, finding my home , turning the camera made me even more confused on where i was at. Maybe you could have add a descend button because i had to keep driving in a circle to locate my home. i ended up crashing running out of water on the ship so i jump out and retrieve it i guess damaged.

I agree. I was really enjoying it until I got to the point of flying. Hated it. Unless that is improved, I would have to refrain from buying. The flying in Aloft is so much better.

They need to add the option to invert the pitch controls. Currently, it's in plane/joystick mode where pushing the controls away means down and pulling them in means up, which is counterintuitive for most mouse users.

yes- my flight was horrible! ( ok to be fair, it was raining when i set of) but i could not see anything at all, and even when i got lucky and neared my island i could not get the airship close enough to it, to land. it was a mess.:angrymian:

Agree flying needs serious improvement, it's too complicated, I kept reading the tutorial but it didn't help any, I could see the merchant dock in the distance but couldn't get the ship to it, couldn't see over the nose of the ship, then I didn't know where I was again. Gave up in mid-air and didn't bother to figure out how to get back to the home island.

This is something that could put me off buying the game as well, if adjustments are not made to make it more user friendly, and easier to drive for those of us that suck at driving in games. It was a real bummer as I enjoyed the rest of the demo.

Admittedly it took me a minute to realize pushing my mouse up and down tilted the ship, but I found the explanation of the ship controls very straight forward and easy to understand. W for faster, S to slow/stop and mouse to steer. The influence of the wind was pretty significant, but it is a balloon after all.

Yes, I believe Space is ascend and Left Shift is descend, though, it's kind of slow. It seems faster to angle up or down and move forward to gain or lose elevation.

There's a white symbol above your island's Dock. You can't miss it when you're at the Merchant.

Or add a ship upgrade like a "Flight stick inverter" you can craft or buy. That would be cool.
With a little practice flying is absolute not difficult. After 5 minutes I got the hang of the keyboard and mouse interaction and now it works great. They don't need to change anything from me.

How about a auto pilot feature so you can sit there and enjoy the scenery of the ride instead of having to fumble finger with the controls. It's not like it would take away from the exploration factor once you get to the islands to gather resources, or do whatever they have in mind for each of the islands.

Perhaps an end-game upgrade you can add to your landing docks that automates the flight between them. I'd be down for that, but removing free-form flight altogether seems like we'd be losing a feature rather than improving on the game.

The free-form flight wouldn't have to be removed, auto pilot could be an option for people who would like to use it. And it would be pointless to not have it until end game, it should be available as soon as you build the ship, if it were to be added.
I feel like tweaking the flight controls would be sufficient. Adding auto-pilot, in my opinion, would completely remove the need/challenge of learning to fly the ship, perhaps with the exception of it being an added convenience later in the game.

While I do agree that the flight controls were a bit loose and not very precise, it didn't take me that long to be capable and comfortable enough to get around. I think if you had the option to invert the vertical control stick for flying, it would alleviate all the complaints.

I would be very happy if flying the airship would be simplified. There is absolutely no need for all the mumbo-jumbo mouse steering. It is a cool gimmick but this game is not a Top Gun simulator. Simple flight like in Forever Skies is all that this game needs. Then flying would be 10/10
Also, same request as others. Please at least make an auto return home option possible or make docking easier. Crashed 20 times before I could adjust the position to dock at home.
