Personally, I save my candies for the hero damage boost (300 candies) or the extra hero pick (500 candies). Not finally decided yet. But these two seem to be the best options. Getting higher damage faster or making runs more consistent.

You can use the tokens to get a global boost to your account. You can see the boosts in "My Collection".

In general, I've read a few posts saying to save the candies to get the extra hero pick.

The reason is because you can get bonuses in the game that will give you damage boost, camp resting regeneration, and even extra gold, without using candies.

Of course, even with that, it takes a long time to get to 500 candies, but at least you can get it with the help of the in-game achievements. After those achievements are done, you only can get candies from daily activities, if you choose to be f2p only.

Tokens let you trade in for the Poke-ball thing on the left side of your candy menu. A random object will be selected and then you get bonuses on that object. For example, the first thing I got was Snails, and it says "Now I get extra gold when killing snails".

i had pretty bad rolls in the tokens. its really sad...

id choose double damage, then +hero pick and then double gold.
damage helps a lot but gold has diminishing returns cause it scales too much and bonuses stack additive...
hero choice is good but more expensive and damage is faster...
