Setups etc.
Very very new to this game and no experience with drag racing in other games. Kinda feel lost as in, is there base setups for the different vehicles? Seems unless you kinda know what youre doing this is a hard one to grab hold of.

I highly recommend dropping by the Discord, there is a huge community there where they will help new players, you can also join lobbies with people and they can help you. The game is in the middle of the biggest update yet so that's why there's no "current" guides.

I would not even ask in the discord; they are rude, and the ones who set up the events with the discord tags are rude as hell. It is a shame the developer here does not sort out his little fan base stuff in the discord, and any events don't even bother to ask. will only see the same names running and winning over and over, then all they can say is, Get good. And then, if you suffer from something like dyslexia, the grammar police come out in force, as it hurts them when they see there, their, or whatever else is not done with grammar and punctuation.

I'm sad to hear this is the experience you've had with my community, but this is a skill based game and those names you see winning all the time have close to or over a thousand hours in this game. Coincidentally, last night we had a rookie's only event, to allow new people to win an event, and there will be more of these newbie friendly events coming soon. You should not expect to ask for a fast tune when these players have spent a thousand hours perfecting theirs, but if you ask for a baseline there are many people willing to give you one to get you started, and there are also youtube videos about the tuning.
