No internet = No game.
Do you ever see it changing? I hate essentially 'borrowing' games... Like yeah, if this was for example an MMO, I would understand it's online only for a reason.
But is it really necessary to make a rhythm game online only? Do you think the developers would reconsider? Having the ability to play offline would make this game more popular. Also, just to note, having a 'single player' that you need an online connection for is pretty misleading.
It reminds me of the 'live service' type of games that may shut down one day, we have no guarantee that a game we bought and "own" will still be accessible after 2, 5 or 10 years... That's one big question mark about this game model.
Though I really do hope that in the end, the game will be available offline.
All offline games can be pirated and it will always be this way; the same is true for movies, music, etc. I don't think they should force people to play online if that is their anti-piracy focus. All it does is hurt their existing playerbase and give people less of a reason to stick around.
If they added an offline mode, I would literally be willing to buy all the DLC. This game has a really unique system but I won't be investing lots of time into it if it remains a borrowed product that will eventually go offline.
(If worse comes to worst, I will just end up returning to Osu!... Being able to play the same songs there that I've played for 8y is what makes that game special to me.)
