Help with bamboo forest gate

I am stuck at the gates to the bamboo forest and I don't know if I'm doing smth wrong or if it is a bug. I am playing the three notes (red, blue and purple) in all different variations but the gates won't open.

Can someone help please?

Try playing the notes from top to bottom.

Direction - top->bottom not obvious

Yeah, it seems it wasn't as obvious of a hint as we had hoped for! Just in case you were curious about our logic: the vertical direction was supposed to be understood from the vertical lines forming a "staff".
