Should we share details about stories?

So for example before we make the first choice about mom or dad, we will have a muted sign. I'm not really sure what's the meaning of it. Does it mean we should keep silent when reading the story, or we should keep these things secret to other player all the time?

For me and my friend, we thought we are not supposed to share stories with each other when making choices. I want to choose dad, he wants to choose mom, so we flipped a steam coin to make the final decision. Now we just finished the second choice.

Yeah, i think so, i guess both players must have their own version, so you're not supposed to say what u saw on your side so each one decides based on what they saw
