Do I need 2 copies?
Do I need two copies of this game or do I just need one copy and I invite someone to play with me?

You need two copies. The game has 3 walkthroughs and after playing once with the same friend the second time you play its slightly different. Then the third time you play with the same friend its also different from the two times you played before

Thank you for providing an answer to this information I was looking for.
Also, they should really consider giving the option to buy this as a 2-pack to gift the 2nd copy to the person you want to play with.

With Remote Play Together existing, it always leaves me a sour taste whenever both players need a copy to play. Like, it's your game and it's really cheap in my region, but the value seems inherently lower than other games when I can just boot, send an invite to a random friend and we're both playing just like that.
