Since there is a "Download BOKURA Friend's Pass" button, I'd assume only one player buys the game, and the other player downloads the "Friend's Pass" version.

Does the Friend's Pass Demo count as well? Because that's the only option for me to download somehow.

Only one person has to buy the game and then the other player just has to download the friend pass version and input the code. After that you're good to go :)

According to the news tab, as of the full version (since around August) there is no friends pass version anymore and both people need the game.
The price of the game seems to have been adjusted to around half the original price though because of that.
