Like what was said earlier; Windows 7 has been fully depreciated by Microsoft. Performance isn’t the issue it’s the fact that modern versions of things like Direct X and .NET framework just aren’t supported by the OS. If it was built in an engine that supported old architecture it would be fine but honestly you should be looking into either upgrading or switching to Linux at this point. 7 has a TON of problems with newer software and it’s only going to get worse as time goes on
Assuming this is not a joke, why are you using Windows 7. If your on STEAM one would assume you would have a computer capable of playing fairly recent games and a version of Windows from like 2009 that ended support 3 years ago would be pushing it, as one would presume any new remake/re-release would primarily be being intended to run on newer systems and those coming up over the next decade or so.
When it comes to re-releasing old games, typically the problem is modifying them to work on newer systems and with hardware far more powerful than existed when they were created, typically it is not common for those versions to be backwards compatible.
As far as emulating them it's your choice of course, the purpose of getting this package is mostly to support the developers and to not have to work through an emulator. I personally only played a couple of these (the first one and I think 5) and am mostly here learning more about them to see if it's worth picking up the package. I don't really do much with emulators due to not trusting most of the ROM sites. I actually own a good number of old games that I have every right to emulate, but let's just say I had some bad experiences with what happened when I tried to run something called "Infinite Space" (an old portable space ship battle RPG) via emulator and pretty much wound up having to wipe and re-build my entire computer. Even when it comes to stuff you can do legally, no matter how legit a site might seem at the end of the day you just can't trust Cap'n 1337 Haxx, 99% of pirate guys might just be gamers trying to help poor people out, but that 1% is pretty much out to make you miserable because they can and they generally assume if your poor enough to be doing that you aren't going to be able to have your computer fixed (or figure out how to do it yourself)
You lying ♥♥♥♥♥ it doesn't work, what did I do wrong?
