you're really saying a lot of stuff to people for not owning it...like there is quite a bit going on with this, but you're kinda hopping all over these and spreading this information I really am too lazy to go hunt down all the features to the game that are quite a bit over the emulators :S other's have listed them, but you should probably go read those or at least check out the features that several places have listed before you keep answering like this everywhere
yeah, but I'm not spreading misinformation :P
edit: going to try to not be useless, I'll copy and paste a few of the stuff I found that is advantageous over the emulated stuff:
A 3D rendition of MegaMan will help you navigate
the title selection and gallery screens.
He also has a variety of different voiced reactions.
A gallery packed full of official illustrations, rare rough designs, and concept art.
Combined with the "Mystery Data", which includes artwork used for events and merchandise, there are more than 1000 pieces of art for your viewing pleasure!
You'll be able to listen to a total of 188 songs taken from the Mega Man Battle Network games!
You can even listen to your favorite tracks on repeat, or set them as the background music for the gallery.
Get 15 chips released in events, etc.!
You can load ChipData from the "MegaMan" option in the sub menu of each game. <---instant access to these, these chips are OP as hell
All 499 Patch Cards are included!
Load cards by selecting "Mega Man" from the Sub Screen in all Mega Man Battle Network games from 4 onward.
There's also a rule that lets you play with or without Patch Cards in online battles!
In the original games, you read data from real cards with the e-Reader peripheral to net in-game bonuses.
There were all different kinds of cards, including those sold at game stores and given away at special events.
Patch Cards
(Mega Man Battle Network 4-6)
Select a card to powerup Mega Man's stats and weapons.
Item Cards
(Mega Man Battle Network 5-6)
Obtain items like NaviChips sets, SubChips, Zennys, BugFrags, and more!
Event Cards
(Mega Man Battle Network 6)
Fulfill requests to net special rewards.
Fulfill all requests to battle a super-powerful Navi!
Character Cards
(Mega Man Battle Network 4)
View cards that depict NetNavis from the series in the Gallery.
Special Cards
(Mega Man Battle Network 4-6)
Gain access to limited cards that were previously only available from past events and other distributions!
Includes special Boktai tie-in cards too!
A new mode has been added that powers up Mega Buster shots by a factor of 100!
You can turn the new mode on/off from the menu at any time during the story, giving you the freedom to play how you want.
The mode will remain off in online battles.
High Resolution Filter (actually looks like garbage, but its there)
Connect to the internet to battle and/or trade with far-off NetBattlers!
You can begin matchmaking by selecting "Network/Comm" from each game's sub menu.
recheck my post since I decided to update it. You are quite incorrect, you should be concerned. Just the e-reader cards alone are a massive game changer, and this has way more than that.
But sure, since it bothers you, the next time I see a newbie ask the same question, I'll use more words.
- No Save states
- No Fast forward (random battles every 5 steps gets annoying)
- No Rewind
- No high quality filters/shaders
- Has Denuvo
- You can't have a black border around the screen
- Using original Battle Network 5 instead of Battle Network 5: Double Team (DS port with many extras, voice acting, and better soundtrack)
- Using original Battle Network 1 instead of Rockman.EXE Operate Shooting Star (DS port of BN1 with extras and voice acting)
Personally I don't care about an art gallery, music player, or an avatar that is only viewable in the main menu.
A translation of the JP Battle Network 6 also exists, so the exclusive content added to this collection still doesn't make it worth it, personally. The convenience of the patch cards (still doable with emulation) and multiplayer is pretty much the only advantage.
Well, that's a "you" problem, not a real problem.
Many of us like the art and music. And hearing Shining Armor Mega Man is kinda cool.
And I hate to break it to you, but this collections biggest advantage is... it's legal.
Your alternative is "illegal".
(Side Note: Could you imagine Lan trying to commit such a crime? Having to talk and plead with Mega Man to download the illicit software? That'd be funny as heck to see)
The only person mentioning piracy is you. There is nothing illegal about emulation, otherwise Retroarch and Dolphin would not even be allowed on Steam.
Emulation is not a crime. The Gamecube emulator Dolphin is being listed on Steam, that wouldn't be the case if emulation was a crime. Pirating the game and not dumping your own cart is debateably a crime, if you count not giving money to Ebay scalpers for a half busted GBA cart a crime, but no one can prove if you do or do not physical own a cart and dumped it yourself.
With that in mind, there's really no reason to not just emulate the game, especially given the stupid price tag on the game.
