This really should have been one collection.
Here is a quick look at file sizes:

MMLC1: 245.14 MB
MMLC2: 3.61 GB
MMXLC1: 6.81 GB
MMXLC2: 9.28 GB
MMZero/ZXLC: 3.95 GB

MMBNLC1: 1.48 GB
MMBNLC2: 2.54 GB

I don't see the need to have the division between the two. I mean, I hate Battle Network 4 as much as the next guy, but I don't think the ability to avoid buying it is a reason to cut the collection in half.

In all seriousness, probably could have had the spinoffs added in no problem.

You could say the same thing for the previous collections. But really, Capcom is basically the Japan's equivalent of EA, they're not exactly pro-consumer.

file size isnt the issue, its a value proposition based on the number of titles

I believe they separated it like that due to the game engine change between 3 and 4. They were all still on the GBA, but the previous collections did similar. the classic collection, the NES era Megaman was in one collection and has easy crossover between them with the challenges. Whole Vol2 had the SNES, PS1 and so on installments to the classic series. X did kinda the same thing, I think with Vol 1 being just the SNES era of the X games.

So this collection is similarly divided up from the graphical change between 3 and 4.

Not saying it should be that way, but saying probably why

Yeah there was a major engine change on 4 that probably caused the separation of the games like this which required to have the 2nd collection with different coding to run it.
I'm not sure I buy the "engine change" excuse between 3 and 4.

By that logic. The X Collection should've been split up differently (for the worse).

There are a lot of things this collection could have done better. They could have included the ds versions of 1 and 5 as well. They could have had optional quality of life fixes. It varies what they are and aren't willing to do but their pricing is always consistent.

Publishers love selling their games in bits and pieces. I despise that business practice. It could have been like Master Chief Collection or Serious Sam Fusion where you can download each individually but still be one package.

Happy they divided it tbh even though I bought both collections.
Mostly cause I think I'll only play the 1st 3 games and get 100% on the 1st collection and skip part 2 really.

The X collection didnt have online capability. the MMBN collection does. and thats where the engine change makes a huge difference.
