That being said, you can use either WASD or the actual arrow keys to fish:
- Equip the fishing pole and hold LMB to charge the cast and then release.
- Once the fishing bob gets pulled under the surface of the water press LMB again and it will trigger the mini-game.
- Use WASD/arrow keys to push the fish in the direction needed in order for it to remain in the thin white circle that appears until the yellow progress bar fills all the way up.
- Fish is automatically reeled in once the progress bar is filled.
It is designed that way.
Find a pond or go to the beach if you want a chance with the beginner rod.
You cast the line, wait until the bobber goes underwater and right away press left mouse button and then right away start controlling the direction of the line pull so the fish stays in the circle.
